Gallaway Tryon, N.C. John Franklin Gallaway, 86, of One Tryon Place died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996. A native of Athens, Mr. Gallaway was a son of the late John Wesley and Eleanor Strickland Gallaway and was active in Tryon Little Theater. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Survivors include a son, Tim Gallaway, Asheville, N.C.; a daughter, Kathy Wright, Brasstown, N.C.; a sister, Eleanor Griffith, Athens; and three grandchildren. Irene Robinson Covington Mrs. Guy "Irene" Robinson, 93, died Dec. 21, 1996. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., today, at Covington First United Methodist Church with Dr. Don Martin officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. today. Burial will be in Covington City Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Irene Smith; grandchildren, Fleeta Baggett, Mr. Chris and Gidget Smith; great grandchildren, Madelyn Alexander Baggett, Ashley Nichole Smith, Kristi Rene Smith, all of Covington; a sister, Marjorie Brightwell, Athens; and a half-brother, J.D. Persons, N.C. Following the burial, the family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Billy S. Smith, 3115 Pennington St., Covington. Emma Hardigree Watkinsville Emma Eunice Hardigree, 86, of High Shoals Road, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Hardigree was a daughter of the late Clyde G. and Ophelia Mathis Brown. She was a widow of E. Roy Hardigree. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Hardigree; and a brother, O'Neal Brown. She was a retired hostess for Morrison Cafeteria. She was a member of Watkinsville First Christian Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., today at Evergreen Memorial Park, with Rev. Bryon Wells officiating. Survivors include two sons, Toby Hardigree, Watkinsville, Clyde Hardigree, Stone Mountain Village; a daughter, Elizabeth Jordan, Dalton; a brother, Clarence Brown, Athens; four sisters, Grace Holliman, Honea Path, S.C., Bert Rice, Bishop, Catherine Lee, Athens, Lucille Smith, Athens; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are in charge of Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens. Willis Rucker Elberton Willis "Pine Knot" Harper Rucker, 67, of 1790 Jaudon Road, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996. A native of Wilkes County, Mr. Rucker was a son of Annie Rice Rucker, Elberton, and the late Julian Gifford Rucker. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Rucker. He was a retired granite polisher and was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today, at Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Forsythe officiating. Survivors include, in addition to his mother, a daughter, Ramona Norman, Athens; two sisters, Beth Harrison, Annie Ruth Rucker, both of Elberton; a brother, George Rucker, Elberton; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family is at the home of his mother, 1590 Jaudon Road, Elberton. Alice Weatherford Greensboro Alice Akins Weatherford, of 1540 East Broad St., died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996. A native of Greene, Mrs. Weatherford was a daughter of the late James Warren Akins and Mary Dillard. She graduated from Woodville High School and the State Normal School, Athens. She was a lunchroom manager at Union Point High School. She was a member of AARP, and Greene County Senior Citizens Club. She was a member of Woodville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 24, at Woodville Baptist Church, with Rev. Patrick Tice officiating. Burial will be in Woodville Cemetery, Woodville. Survivors include a son, Warren C. Weatherford, Evans; and a grandson, Andy Weatherford. The family will receive friends at McCommons Funeral Home, Greensboro, from 7-9 tonight. Louie Clark Jr. Roatan, Honduras Louie Maxwell "Max" Clark Jr., 45, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996. A native of Madison County, Mr. Clark was a son of Louie M. Clark Sr. and Ann Clements Clark, Danielsville. He was active in Rotary International clubs in Dalton and Gwinnett County. He was appointed by Gov. Zell Miller to serve on the Automobile and Salvage Dealers Board of Examiners. He was an officer of the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce. He attended Middle Georgia College, Georgia Tech, and graduated from Georgia State University with a master's degree in insurance. He later served as an instructor for the School of Business Administration at Georgia State. He worked as an engineer with the Department of Transportation, served as vice-president and part-owner of Jim Anderson and Company for many years and later was a consultant with the Leonard Insurance Agency, Chatsworth. For the past year he worked in the construction business in Roatan, Honduras. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 24, at Sale City Baptist Church. Burial will be in Sale City Memorial Gardens, Sale City. Survivors include, in addition to his parents, a son, Louie Maxwell Clark III, Chattanooga, Tenn.; two brothers, Jeff Clark, Ken Clark, both of Danielsville; a sister, Ceci Clark Dove, Hull; and a grandmother, Sara Clements, Danielsville. Arrangements are in charge of Brown Funeral Home, Inc., Danielsville. O'Neal Woods Crawford O'Neal Woods died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Woods was a son of the late Walter and Hattie Lorene Patton Woods. He was retired from Westclox and was a member of Springs of Life, Arnoldsville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 24, at Springs of Life, with Rev. G.C. McCurry officiating. Burial will be in Arnoldsville Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Annie Lee Todd Woods; two sons, Richard Woods, Miami, Jimmy Woods, Watkinsville; two daughters, Lois McCannon, Stephens, Peggy Sellers, Winterville; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
