Jordan Jr. Winder Judson I. Jordan Jr., of 202 E. Wright St., died Sunday, July 21, 1996. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bush Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church cemetery, with the Rev. Alfred Hazel officiating. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Vivian Jordan, Winder; and two granddaughters, Marlo Jordan and Edwina Jordan, both of Winder; two cousins, Henry Slayton, Winder, and Beulah Jordan Brown, Atlanta; and a friend, Mary Barksdale, Winder. The cortege will assemble at the residence at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Young Funeral Home, Monroe, is in charge of arrangements. Nell C. Kennedy Winder Nell Cochran Couch Kennedy, 87, died Sunday, July 21, 1996. A native of White County, Mrs. Kennedy was a daughter of the late Jacob Madison and Amanda Gooch Cochran. She was preceded in death by husbands, John Marvin Couch and Carlton Lee Kennedy Sr. She was operator of Kennedy Flower Shop in Winder. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winder, the Susannah Wesley Sunday school class, the Winder chapter No. 336 Order of the Eastern Star and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carter-Stewart Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Larry W. Rary and Terre Balof officiating. Additional services will be conducted by the Winder No. 335 Order of the Eastern Star. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ray ``Butch'' Kennedy, and John and Barbara Couch, all of Winder; a stepdaughter, Jewell Kennedy White, Winder; a sister, Ethel Cochran Mote, Decatur; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home. W. Bailey Jones Carnesville William Bailey Jones, 75, of 15920 Ga. 59, died Sunday, July 21, 1996. A native of Elberton, Mr. Jones was a son of the late William Amos and Katherine McCall Jones. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jinger Jones Holland. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Agriculture. He was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as the district conservationist for Franklin, Stephens and Banks counties. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served as mayor of Carnesville from 1978 to 1991. He was a member of the Carnesville Lions Club and was a free-lance photographer with the Anderson Independent and the Georgia Country Magazine. He was a member of the Carnesville United Methodist Church where he served as trustee and steward. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carnesville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rebecca Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Tidwell Jones; a daughter, Beth Jones McGriff, Marietta; a son, William Bailey ``Billy'' Jones Jr., Milledgeville; four sisters, Doris Bailey, Marietta, Velma Grizzle, Acworth, Faye Vermilya, Atlanta, and Jimmie Richardson, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three brothers, Allen Jones, Franklin, Va., Jack Jones, Baton Rouge, La., and Bobby Jones, Elberton; and four grandchildren. Helen Smith Snellville Helen Smith, 81, died Friday, July 19, 1996. A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Smith was employed with the DeKalb County Health Department as an administrative assistant for 20 years and was a member of Decatur Presbyterian Church for more than 65 years. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wages Snellville Chapel with Dr. Jane Rhodes officiating. Burial was in Prospect Methodist Church cemetery. Survivors include her husband, William D. Smith Sr.; two daughters, Kathy Smith, Decatur, and Cindy Goodwin, Stone Mountain; three sons, Kenney Smith, Lithonia, and William D. ``Bill'' Smith Jr. and Danny Smith, both of Snellville; and two grandchildren. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Hitchcock was a daughter of the late Robert and Clara Wise Faust. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gholston Baptist Church with the Rev. William Jennings officiating. Burial will be in the Hitchcock Cemetery, Colbert. Survivors include a brother, Charles L. Faust, Comer; a stepson, Roy Faust; a sister, Grace Skelton, West Palm Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, raised in the home, Teresa Willingham and Sherry D. Willingham, both of Athens; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at Jackson-McWhorter Funeral Home. Sarah R. McNair Calhoun Falls, S.C. Sarah Rebecca Frost McNair, 78, of Route 1, Island Ford Road, died Sunday, July 21, 1996. A native of Elberton, Mrs. McNair was a daughter of the late Obe and Clyde Maddox Frost and widow of Blant Sims McNair. She was a homemaker and a member of Calhoun Falls Church of God of Prophecy. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at the Church of God of Prophesy with the Revs. J.R. Martin, Jerry Schall, Haskell Gibson and William Joslin officiating. Burial will be in Latimer Cemetery. Survivors include three children, Joann Bowen, Anderson, S.C., Maxine M. Edwards, Elberton, and Jean M. Cole, Anderson; three brothers, J.E. Brown, Vernon Brown and Bobby Brown, all of Calhoun Falls; three sisters, Louise Chambers, Anderson, Ruth Jordan, Calhoun Falls, and Lucille Martin, Saluda; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A native of Rayle, Mr. Tiller was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Paul Tiller. He was a carpenter and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended Bethesda Methodist Church. He was a member of the Ben Hill Masonic lodge No. 674, Atlanta. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethesda Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Inez Tiller; a son, Paul ``Bill'' Tiller, Lexington; a sister, Florence Nelson, Florida; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East. Franklin D. Strickland Colbert Franklin D. Strickland, 62, of Route 2, Box 169, died Monday, July 22, 1996. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Strickland was a son of Golden Williamson Strickland and the late Robert Strickland. He was a retired restaurant equipment salesman and was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville. The Rev. Gordon Rhoden will officiate. Burial will be in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Shirley Rhinehart; two sons, Mike and Ricky Strickland, both of Colbert; two daughters, Teresa Ward and Tammy Strickland, both of Colbert; two brothers, W.C. Strickland, Shelby, N.C., and Bob Strickland, Colbert; and eight grandchildren. The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
