Dougherty St., died Wednesday, July 31, 1996, at St. Mary's Hospital. A native of Quincy, Ill., Mrs. Dimmitt was a daughter of the DIMMITTlate Charlotte "Lottie" Ullman and Charles E. Hale, and she was the widow of Louis T. Dimmitt. She was a longtime resident of Quincy, Ill., where she was employed at Robinson's Specialty Shop as a manager and buyer in the ladies wear department. She was active in many charitable and civic organizations. While in Athens, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Denney Tower, 250 W. Dougherty St., with the Rev. Grady Wigley officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Ill. Survivors include a son, Louis A. Dimmitt, Loveland, Colo.; a daughter, Sharla S. Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Arnold A. Allen Athens Arnold A. Allen, 69, of 345 University Drive, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Allen was a son of the late Joseph Edward and Nell Haynie Allen. He was the widower of Barbara Hix Allen. He was the retired owner of A&B Screen Processing, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Edwards Chapel Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include a son, Terrell Wayne Allen, Watkinsville. Jimmy Scarborough Nicholson Jimmy Ray Scarborough, 31, of Route 2, died Wednesday, July 31, 1996. Smith Canon Freddie Blair Smith, 59, of 270 Glover St., died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996. A native of Gastonia, N.C., Mr. Smith was a son of Bonnie Strickland Smith, Canon, and the late Hoke Smith. He was a police officer with the city of Royston, and formerly was chief of police for the city of Canon. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the Canon Church of God.
