Blackburn Sr., 76, of Banks Street died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996. A native of Habersham County, Mr. Blackburn was a son of the late William P. and Bessie Stephens Blackburn. A graduate of Baldwin High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member and past master of Cornelia Lodge 92 F&AM, a member and past president of Mountaineer Shrine Club, a member of Yaarab Shrine Temple, Atlanta and was a Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cornelia were had been a deacon and was past chairman of the deacon board, chaired the Benevolence Committee, and was a member of the Personnel Committee and the Southern Baptist Men's Bible Class. He owned and operated Cornelia Grocery and retired as city manager for Cornelia. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the church with Dr. T. Logan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Carlton W. Blackburn, Cornelia; a daughter, Kay B. Snyder, Southaven, Miss.; a son, Sanford "Kim" Blackburn Jr., Dacula; a sister, Lena Blackburn, Cornelia; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. John Franklin Gallaway, 86, of One Tryon Place died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996. A native of Athens, Mr. Gallaway was a son of the late John Wesley and Eleanor Strickland Gallaway and was active in Tryon Little Theater. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Survivors include a son, Tim Gallaway, Asheville, N.C.; a daughter, Kathy Wright, Brasstown, N.C.; a sister, Eleanor Griffith, Athens; and three grandchildren. Sallie Mae King Winder Sallie Mae King, 82, died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996. A native of Habersham County, Mrs. King was a daughter of the late H.B. and Hettie Meaders Nunnally and the widow of William Luther King. She was a homemaker and member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at the chapel of Carter-Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Truman Humphries officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include four sons, Clyde King, William King and Robert King, all of Winder, and Larry King, Athens; seven daughters, Louise McDonald, Hoschton, Cora Mae Wilkins, Annette Kennedy, Annie Krieger, Barbara Cole and Shirley Sleeper, all of Winder, and Susie Pannell, Arcade; 21 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Janice LaCount Harlem Janice Hunt LaCount, 62, of 300 W. Boundary St. died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996. A native of Troup County, Mrs. LaCount was a daughter of the late William and Vera Smith Hunt. She was Miss LaGrange in 1952 and was a former member of LaGrange Jaycettes and St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Savannah. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Buford Lockman officiating. Survivors include her husband, Thomas LaCount; a son, Paul LaCount, Harlem; a daughter, Cindy Pinion, Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Paula Hunt, Savannah; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. 'Ned' Mayweather Winder Willie "Ned" Mayweather, 71, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996. Mr. Mayweather was a member of Fairfield Baptist Church, Auburn, where he served as chairman of the deacon board and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at White Oak Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. L.D. Sims officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Survivors include his wife, Paris Mayweather, Winder; four daughters, Neva Rose, Conyers, Nadine Sutton, Stone Mountain, and Daphne Gray and Jackie Harris, both of Winder; a son, Lional Mayweather, Decatur; three brothers, Macon Mayweather, Monroe, Gene Mayweather, Arnoldsville, and Jim Mayweather, Winder; six sisters, Mildred Twyman, Atlanta, Mary Lee Johnson, Statham, Martha Holman, Denmark, S.C., Lizzie Bell Mayweather, Winder, and Mary Mayweather and Catherine Bradley, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Eberhart & Son Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Gregory S. Vanderbush Union Point Gregory Spencer Vanderbush, 44, of 1620 Rhodes St. died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996. A native of Amarillo, Texas, Mr. Vanderbush was a son of Shirley Dingler, Union Point, and the late Victor Herbert Vanderbush. He graduated from Caprock High School and attended Amarillo College. He was a disc jockey at several stations in Amarillo, Texas, and one in Borger, Texas, as well as having worked at several television stations. He was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Key. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a son, Neil S. Vanderbush, Tesecula, Calif.; a daughter, Holly V. Vanderbush-Wall, Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Victoria Hardin, Victoria, Texas; a brother, Lawrence Vanderbush, Texas; and a grandchild.
