Gaines Elberton Annie Ruth Eberhardt Gaines, 87, of Georgia White Road, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996. A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Gaines was a daughter of the late Jim and Willie B. Hatten White. She was a member of Granite City Chapter #220 O.E.S. She was a member of White's Chapel C.M.E. Church where she served in many capacities. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, at White's Chapel C.M.E. Church, Elberton, with Pastor W.L. Whelchel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Gladys Downer, Margaret Burton, Julia Burton, all of Elberton; two sons, Frank Eberhardt, James Howard Eberhardt, both of Elberton; a step-daughter, Odessa Thompson, Atlanta; a step-son, Willie S. Oliver, Chicago; a sister, Georgia White, Elberton; a brother, Ralph White, Elberton; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. Arrangements are in charge of McKinney-Neal Mortuary, Inc. Hubert Driver Elberton Hubert Driver, 80, of 1537 Hartwell Highway, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 1996. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Driver was a son of the late Alex L. and Minnie Thompson Driver. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lettie Ruth Dickerson Driver; two brothers, L.T. Driver, Clenton Driver; and by a sister, Adell D. Fleming. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W. W. II. He was a retired farm equipment salesman and a member of Concord United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Burial will be in Vanna United Methodist Church Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Frances Moore Lunsford Driver; two daughters, Martha Whittimore, Arnoldsville, Carol Cofer, Watkinsville; a son, Gerald Driver, Athens; a step-son, Dean Lunsford, Elberton; two sisters, Mozell Driver, Annie Mae Driver, both of Royston; four granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. The family is at the home, 1537 Hartwell Highway, and will receive friends from 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral Home. JoEtta Langston Lilburn JoEtta Langston, 71, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996. Mrs. Langston was a native of Franklin County. She was a daughter of the late R.J. Bob and Elise Walters Bruce. She was a musician and pianist at Sunny Side Church, Toccoa. She was a secretary employed by Frito-Lay Company. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, with Rev. Robert Woodall officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens, Toccoa. Survivors include her husband, Marvin Langston; two daughters, Edith Rice, Lawrenceville, Marcia Mitchell, Loganville; four sisters, Analois McDade, Eatonton, Louise Strickland, Vero Beach, Fla., Grace Smith, Cuthbert, Janie Sue Carroll, Toccoa; two brothers, Robert Bruce, Toccoa, David Bruce, Lawrenceville; a step-brother, David Cantrell, Toccoa; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Paul Royston Royston James Paul Royston, 78, of 432 Turner St., died Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Royston was a son of the late Marco Royston and Tinnie Starr Royston. He was retired as a custodian at Tri-County Bank, Royston. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., today, at the Pruitte Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Ingham officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Survivors include a brother, JaDon Royston, Piedmont, S.C.; a sister, Jarrelle Long, Columbia, S.C.; and two nieces. James Threlkedl Carlton James Threlkedl, 66, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996. A native of Madison County, Mr. Threlkedl was a son of the late Omer James Threlkedl and Annie Bell Scoggins Threlkedl, Carlton. He retired from the U.S. Army after 27 years. He was a veteran of W.W. II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #5040 and the Amvets. He was a member of Carlton Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Carlton Baptist Church with Rev. John Michael officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. today. Burial will be in Carlton Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Nada Kirk Threlkeld; a daughter, Brigitte Flores, Carlton; a step-son, Larry Haynes, Denver; a sister, Mary Jo Simmons, Carlton; and three grandchildren. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a retired counselor and member of Gonzalez Baptist Church. Garland Shook Jr. Cornelia Garland "June" Shook Jr., 62, of Valley Drive, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 1996. A native of Hiawassee, Mr. Shook was a son of the late Garland Shook Sr. and Zuria Mary Ann Barrett Shook. He was a retired magistrate judge, a mason, and a life-member of the Grant Reeves Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7720. He was a U.S. Army veteran and owner and operator of Flavor Crisp Chicken for the past 29 years. He was a member of New Birth Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Whitfield Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. James Holden, J.R. Elrod, and Thomas Gragg officiating. James London Cornelia James "Al" London, 72, of Duncan Bridge Road, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 1996. A native of Pickens, S.C., Mr. London was a son of the late John Graves and Florie Cantrell London. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Cowart London; a sister, Irene London; and five brothers, Clarence London, Arthur London, Benny London, Richard London, and Phillip London. He was a member of Woodmen of the World, of Cornelia Lions Club, and served as president of Unicoi Springs Campground Resort. He attended Truett-McConnell College, Cleveland. He was a U.S. Army W.W. II veteran and a member of Level Grove Baptist Church. He retired after 31 years of service as Senior Engineer of the Georgia Department of Transportation. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Level Grove Baptist Church with Revs. Ronnie Glaze and Terry Rice officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. the day of the service. Burial will be in Blue Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, White County.
