Jones Arnoldsville Hubert J. Jones, 75, Route 1, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1996. A native of Arnoldsville, Mr. Jones was a son of the late Adolphus E. Jones and Laura Reece Jones. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Arnoldsville Baptist Church. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lord and Stephens Chapel, East. Survivors include his wife, Bertha Dockery Jones, two sons, Tommy H. Jones, Watkinsville, and Maurice R. Jones, Athens; a daughter, Marcia J. Mobley, Irmo S.C.; a sister, Essie J. Smith, Athens; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arnoldsville Cemetery Association, c/o Grace Young, Box 30, Arnoldsville, Ga. 30619. O'Neal Brown Winterville O'Neal D. Brown, 71, of Route 1, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 1996. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Brown was a son of the late Ernest Brown and Mattie Mathis Brown. He was employed with Browns Transport. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lord and Stephens Chapel, East. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Brown; three sons, Rick Morgan, Bogart, Lamar Brown, Hull, and David Brown, Winterville; five sisters, Catherine Lee and Burt Rice, both of Watkinsville, Eunice Hardigree and Lucille Smith, both of Athens, and Grace Holloman, Honea Path, S.C.; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Hunter D. Gearing Hull Hunter Dixon Gearing, the infant son of Michael Dixon and Valerie Dixon Gearing, Hull, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 1996. Graveside services were Thursday in Union Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Walter Singletary officiating. Survivors include, in addition to his parents, a brother, Wyatt Gearing, Hull, two maternal grandparents, Bobby Dixon and Gloria Dixon, both of Athens; two paternal grandparents, Tommy Gearing and Mary Ann Gearing, Ila; great-grandparents; aunts and uncles; and cousins. Wise-Connolly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 'Bobby' Sims Jr. Statham Robert "Bobby" Sims Jr., 55, died Monday, Oct. 21, 1996. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Sims was a son of Katie Sims, Statham. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairfield Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charlie Rakestraw officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include, in addition to his mother; two daughters, Barbara Sims and Anglia Sims, both of Lithonia; two brothers, Billy Sims, Rockmark, and Robert Chandler, Gainesville; six sisters, Pearlie Thurmond and Gracie McGuire, both of Statham, Evelyn Harrison and Marie Sims, both of Dayton, Ohio, Levonia Brown, Bogart, and Mary Ann Stevens, Commerce; and two grandchildren.
