Davis Ila Daniel Jack Davis, 63, died Friday, July 12, 1996. A native of Laurens County, Mr. Davis was a son of the late J.B. and Rachel Davis of Macon. He was a retired textile executive, having graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S. in textile engineering and an M.B.A. from Emory University. A political activist, he supported the campaigns of S. Ernest Vandiver in 1959, George Busbee in 1975 and Joe Frank Harris in 1983. He served as past chairman of the Georgia Board of Medical Assistance, was a past council member of the City of Ila and, at the time of his death, was a member of the Professional Advisory Council of St. Mary's Hospice Services in Athens. A victim of polio who spent time in the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute, he worked with the Department of Natural Resources to raise funds for the restoration of the pools and springs. A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 1996, at Mount Hermon Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member. Survivors include his wife, Ann Gordon L'Amie Davis; a son, Daniel Jack Davis Jr., Athens; a daughter, Ariel Gordon Davis Trouche, Bluffton, S.C.; a brother, Clifford R. Davis, Lilburn; a grandson; three nieces; and a nephew. Memorials may be made to the Roosevelt Warm Springs Development Fund, P.O. Box 1050, Warm Springs, Ga. 31830. Blaine Hunsinger Commerce Blaine Hunsinger, 45, of Route 2, Box 270-A, died Wednesday, July 17, 1996. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Hunsinger was a son of Mary Leachman, Athens, and the late Charles Hunsinger. He was employed with Watkins Motor Lines. A special memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Whitehall Baptist Church in East Athens. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a daughter, Nicole Hunsinger, Comer; two brothers, Ronnie Hunsinger, Bowman, and Dickie Hunsinger, Colbert; and two sisters, Ann Massey, Hull, and Belinda Nash, Nicholson. Family and friends are invited to attend this special service. Jean A. Yonce Athens Jean Alda Yonce, 69, of 2596 Brock Road, died Tuesday, July 23, 1996. A native of Banks County, Mrs. Yonce was a daughter of the late Carl and Lucy Bennett McEver. She was employed with General Time Co. for many years and was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Crooked Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Carpenter and Thomas W. Miles officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Samuels Madison Randall Derek Samuels, 31, of 497 Belmont St., died Tuesday, July 23, 1996. A native of Griffin, Mr. Samuels was a son of Elizabeth Ann Johnson Samuels and the late Royce Edgar Samuels Sr. He was a self-employed logger and was of the Methodist faith. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Madison Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilburn Hill officiating. Burial will be in Centennial Church cemetery. A native of Hancock County, Mr. Robbins was a son of the late Reid and Essie Harper Robbins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. Burial will be in Green Spring Church Cemetery, Sparta. The body will be placed in the church at noon. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Scott was a daughter of the late Adam and Mimie Bullard. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church where she was a member of he Mother Board and was former president of the Sunbeam Board and Deaconess Board. She was a member of the the Senior Citizen Club where she served on the Tea Club. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Union Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Bishop Cunningham, J.T. Hughey, Eddie Thornton, Connie M. Bowers and R.C. Oglesby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Merritt was a daughter of the late James Benjamin and Essie Tench Vaughn. She was a homemaker and a member of Walker United Methodist Church, Greensboro.
