A native of Pickens County, S.C., Mrs. Conwell was a daughter of the late James W. and Dora Lee Hughes and the widow of Julian W. Conwell. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Survivors include a son, John S. Conwell, Bogart; five sisters, Lola Wooten and Ina Rae Pegran, both of Greenville, S.C., Ester Stiffler, Westminster, S.C., JoAnn Looper, Pickens, S.C., and Barbara Martin, San Diego; and two grandchildren. Carter W. Caropreso Clarion, Pa. Carter W. Caropreso, 39, of Liberty Street died Friday, Nov. 22, 1996. A native of Greensboro, N.C., Mrs. Caropreso was a daughter of David L. and Jean Patterson Williams, Greensboro. She attended graduate school at the University of Georgia and was a junior high guidance counselor and gifted coordinator for the Clarion Area School District. A native of New Brunswick, Canada, Mr. MacLean was a son of the late Charles A. and Helen Maud Britton MacLean. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired bookkeeper with Braselton Brothers Inc. A former Braselton City Council member, he was a member of Hoschton United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher.
