Phillips Statham James Frankie Phillips, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 1996. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Phillips was a son of the late Tommie and Florence Smith Phillips. He was a retired poultry farmer and a member of Bethabara Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons and was trustee emeritus. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Bethabara Baptist Church with the Revs. John Davidson and Frank Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Nellie Potter Phillips; a daughter, Sara Jo Hamilton, Winder; three sisters, Grace Hogan, Jefferson, Annie Anthony, Pickens, S.C., and Johnnie Hutson, Conley; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mills Elberton Jim Tom Mills, 74, of 1370 Bakers Ferry Road died Friday, Oct. 25, 1996. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Mills was a son of the late Joseph Eugene and Bessie Beasley Mills. He was an Army veteran of World War II, retired from Harmony Blue Granite Co. and of the Methodist faith. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Merry Porter and Rick Maeser officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Edith DePalma Mills; two daughters, Mary Nesa Mills, Elberton, and Cindy Mills Lloyd, Brewton, Ala.; two sisters, Annie Ruth Carithers, Elberton, and Nell White, Morrow; two brothers, H.D. Mills, Elberton, and Ralph Mills, Forest Park; and two grandchildren. The family is at the residence, 1370 Bakers Ferry Road. Chester Elliott Auburn Chester Elliott, 84, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 1996. Mr. Elliott was a son of the late Andrew and Matilda Page Elliott. He was retired from R&R Manufacturing. He was a past master of Auburn Masonic Lodge and was a member of Carl Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Smith Memory Chapel, Winder, with the Revs. Billy Atkins and M.H. Everett officiating. Burial will be in Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery. William A. Campbell Lula William Aron Campbell, 79, of Yonah-Homer Road died Friday, Oct. 25, 1996. A native of Banks County, Mr. Campbell was a son of the late Jim and Azzie Lee Whisnant Campbell. He was a member of Phi Delta Masonic Lodge, Homer, and Silver Shoals Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Silver Shoals Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Smith officiating. A native of Lincoln County, Mrs. Paradise was a daughter of the late Edward D. and Sarah Frances Geeter Gassaway and the widow of Howard H. Paradise. She was preceded in death by four children, Alexander Paradise, Hiram Paradise, Lincoln Paradise and Mary Frances Westover. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Lindsey officiating. Survivors include two sons, William "Bill" Howard Paradise, Stephens, and Samuel "Sambo" Paradise, Lexington; a daughter, Anne Hansford Langston, Stephens; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews. Brown Winterville O'Neal D. Brown, 71, of Route 1 died Thursday, Oct. 24, 1996. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Brown was a son of the late Ernest and Mattie Mathis Brown. He was employed with Browns Transport. Funeral services were Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lord & Stephens Chapel, East. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park. A native of Richmond County, Mr. Burke was a son of Essie M. Burke of Crawfordville. He was a carpenter and a member of Greater Level Hill Baptist Church.
