Wheeler Winder Dorothy Jean Wheeler, 53, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 1996. A lifelong resident of Barrow County, Ms. Wheeler was a daughter of the late Royce Jackson and Corrine Sauls Wheeler. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Carter-Stewart Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include a two brothers, Billy Wheeler and Jerry Wheeler, both of Winder; a sister, Lillian Thornton, Winder; and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 196 Alps Road, Athens 30604. Richard C. Patten Hartwell Richard C. Patten, 60, of 215 Janice Drive died Saturday, Oct. 26, 1996. A native of Madison County, he was a son of the late Ben and Roxie Payne Patten. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie Patten and " Pink" Patten, and two sisters, Aldeen Childs and Catherine Adams. He was employed with Monroe Auto Equipment Co. in maintenance and was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Durden officiating. Burial will be in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Doris Crider Patten; two sons, Alex D. Patten and C. Brandon Patten, both of Hartwell; two brothers, Talmadge Patten, Hartwell, and Carroll Patten, Kissimmee, Fla.; and four sisters, Jewel Adams, Pickens, S.C., Patsy Bailey, Hartwell, Virginia Brooks, Loganville, and Wilda Murphy, Kissimmee. The family is at the residence. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. James C. Redding Bogart James C. Redding, 80, of 140 Deerfield Road died Thursday, Oct. 24, 1996. A native of Boston, Ga., Mr. Redding was a son of the late John Calvin and Lulu McKinnon Redding. He was the owner of a sporting goods store, a member of the Lions Club, Watkinsville, and of the Methodist faith. A private funeral service will be held. Survivors include his wife, Martha W. Redding; a son, Joel Redding, San Francisco; a stepson, Archie Dennis, Athens; a daughter, Judi Dorman, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Barbara Dennis and Susan Dennis, both of Athens; and a sister, Maude Keyton, Thomasville. Mrs. Crook was a daughter of the late Walter and Desser Brookshire. She was a retired secretary for the W.C. Harris Co. and was a member of First Baptist Church. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Evans was a daughter of the late Dilmus and Nealie Crisler Yarbrough and the widow of Olious C. Evans. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Commerce. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Little-Ward Funeral Home Chapel, Commerce, with the Revs. Carlton Peters and Charles Williams officiating. A native of Banks County, Mrs. Poole was a daughter of the late Oscar H. and Emma Whitfield Barnes. She was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Poole. She was affiliated with Wright Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Hill Street Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Acree-Davis Funeral Home Hillcrest Chapel with the Revs. Clyde Garrison, Paul Garrison and Jarrett Ragan officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late George Owen and Violet Grier Wade. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lyvurn Wade. She was a retired nurse. Dean Elberton Mary Frances Downer Dean, 71, of Frances Dean Drive died Thursday, Oct. 24, 1996. A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Dean was a daughter of the late Thomas and Annie Thompson Downer and the widow of Emory Dean. She operated the family business in Sunnybrook community for many years and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Westside Presbyterian Church with Pastor Willie B. Moon and the Rev. John Cottrell officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Heights Cemetery.
