A native of Hall County, Mr. Bowen was a son of the late Luther Graves and Elizabeth O'Kelly Bowen and the widower of Laura Long Bowen and Ruth Martin Adams Bowen. He was a retired schoolteacher, having served as principal of Carlton High School and Centerville School in Elbert County. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Carlton Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the board of deacons. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carlton Baptist Church with the Revs. William Crowe, John Michael and Chester Hall officiating. Burial will be in Carlton Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Gayle Shaw, Atlanta; two brothers, Earl C. Bowen, Winder, and L.G. Bowen Jr., Cornelia; and nieces and nephews. Margaret Brown Hartwell Margaret Wilson Brown, 86, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996. A native of Douglasville, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Frederick Miller and Regina May Wilson and the widow of William Glenn Brown. She was the retired owner of Wilson's Stores, ran an antique and floral business at her home and was employed by Gallant-Belk, Rich's and John Baldwins. She was a former member of John Benson Chapter N.S. Daughters of the American Revolution, Hartwell Garden Club, Huguenot Society and First United Methodist Church. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Tabler officiating. Burial will be in Northview Cemetery. Survivors include a brother, James Frederick Wilson, Hartwell; and three nephews. A native of Penfield, Ms. Butler was a daughter of the late John Samuel and Charlotte Aderhold Finch. She worked as a spinner for a cotton mill and was a member of First Baptist Church of Greensboro. A native of Chicago, Mr. Gadsden was a son of the late Robert Godin and Alice Gerould Gadsden. He was a retired chemical engineer associated with Royster Co. in Mulberry, Fla. A native of Forsyth County, N.C., Dr. Miller was a son of the late Jasper Arther and Anne Mitchell Miller. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina. He was a member of the sociology faculty at the University of Georgia for 33 years and was professor emeritus. He was active in local civic affairs and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
