Kirby Cleveland Billy Gerald Cleveland, 60, died Sunday, July 28, 1996. Mr. Kirby was a son of Mildred White Kirby, Maryville, Tenn., and the late Charles Kirby. Funeral services were at 7 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home chapel, Winder, with the Rev. Michael Phipps officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. today. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Helen S. Kirby; a son, Billy Gerald Kirby Jr., Morrow; four daughters, Carol Morris, Zebulon, Leah Michelle Baumgardner, Maryville, Tenn., Jill Franklin, Braselton, and Melissa Powell, Winder; a sister, Glenda Phipps, Sharpsburgh; and eight grandchildren. Peyton H. Mize Jr. Stone Mountain Peyton Hammond Mize Jr., 46, of 5369 Whitney Court, formerly of Elberton, died Sunday, July 28, 1996. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Mize was a son of Peyton Hammond Mize Sr. and Peggy Mosley Mize of Elberton. He was a member of Rainbow Church of God. He graduated in June 1970, from South Georgia College with an A.S. degree in Education for Exceptional Children. He graduated in June 1973, from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Education for Exceptional Children. From 1989 to this year, he worked with the UGA Master's Level Program in Vocational Counseling. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Berry Funeral Home chapel, Elberton, with the Revs. Ed Sayer, Jack Gatlin and James Fain officiating. Burial will be in Doves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Elberton. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his grandmother, Mozelle Hammond Mize, Elberton; two sisters, Linda Mize and Anisa Shell, both of Elberton; a brother, Curt Mize, Atlanta; and a nephew. Pallbearers will be Joe Deadwyler, Jeff Mitchell, Matt Brown, Bob Mize III, Charles Mize Jr. and Gene Anderson. The family is at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Hammond Mize Sr., 1524 Cromer Road, Elberton. Lois N. Philyaw Clarkesville Lois Nix Philyaw, 69, of Windy Ridge Drive, died Sunday, July 28, 1996. A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Philyaw was a daughter of the late Ralph Willard and Bertie Taylor Nix. She was a 1960 graduate of the North Georgia Technical and Vocational School, Cosmetology Division. She was a homemaker and a member of Habersham Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Whitfield Funeral Home chapel, Baldwin, with the Revs. Ernest Ivester and Bill Smith officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. McAdams Rutledge Ruby Owens McAdams, 50, of 4940 Brownwood Road, died Sunday, July 28, 1996. A native of Walton County, Mrs. McAdams was a daughter of the late Thomas C. and Mildred Queen Owens. She was a homemaker and a member of Centennial Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Centennial Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilburn Hill officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband, John B. McAdams; a son, John David McAdams, Rutledge; two daughters, Ann M. Lunsford McDonough Hugh Slaton "Knot" Lunsford, 85, of 1872 Keys Ferry Road, died Sunday, July 28, 1996. Mr. Lunsford was a retired farmer and was formerly associated with the McDonough Police Department where he served as chief of police from 1962-65. Mr. Lunsford was a member of Sardis Baptist Church in Henry County where he was a deacon for over 50 years. He was a member of Ancient York Lodge No. 127 F&AM in Worthville. He was preceded in death in 1970 by a son, Tony Lunsford. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Sardis Baptist Church with the Revs. Emory Bell, Preston Bridges and Bobby Bradley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Laura Wilkerson Lunsford; a daughter, Jeanette L. Norsworthy, Jackson; three sons, Russell Lunsford and Danny Lunsford, McDonough, and Johnny Lunsford, Athens; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Vera Dean Sailors Winder Vera Dean Sailors, 80, died Sunday, July 28, 1996. A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Sailors was a daughter of the late Samuel D. and Donie O. Fagan and widow of Ralph Sailors. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Talley officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Christian Church cemetery. Survivors include a son, Jim D. Sailors, Norcross; a daughter, Linda Federer, Dunwoody; a brother, James Fagan, Winder; and four grandchildren. Gloria Drake Athens Gloria Drake, 52, of 326 Georgia Drive, died Sunday, July 28, 1996. A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Drake was a daughter of the late Sarah Lowery Clark, Athens, and the late L.C. Clark. She was a homemaker and member of Young Harris United Methodist Church in Athens. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. Buford Lockman officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include four children, Sharon M. Drake and Kelly P. Drake, both of Hull, Angela Drake, Columbus, Ohio, and Tammy L.
