Gibbons Savannah W.B. Gibbons, 89, of 24 Liberty Creek Drive, formerly of Madison, died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996. A native of Lindal, Mr. Gibbons was a son of the late Robert Morrison and Jessie Barnett Gibbons and the widower of Mary Palmer Gibbons and Dorothy Scurry Gibbons. He was a retired cotton broker and businessman who lived in Madison from 1946 to 1979. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today in Morgan Memorial Park with the Rev. Hoyt Allen officiating. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth G. Montis, Savannah, and Catherine G. Jost, White Sulphin Springs, W.Va.; a sister, Eleanor G. Dalton, West Point, Miss.; and a granddaughter. Simmons Funeral Home, Madison, is in charge of arrangements. Irene C. Murphy Pendergrass Irene Cooper Murphy, 80, of 1310 Brooks Road died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1996. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Murphy was a daughter of the late Clifford Preston and Ina Lee Bowles Cooper. She was a homemaker and a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Charles Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, T. Woodrow Murphy; two daughters, Carol Murphy Holzhalb and Woodie Murphy Oglesby, both of Pendergrass; two sons, Dale Murphy, Gainesville, and William Murphy, Pendergrass; a sister, Sallie Morris, Pendergrass; a brother, Eugene Cooper, Oakwood; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. James L. Jones Hartwell James Lee Jones, 25, of 70 Hall Circle died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1996. A native of Hart County, Mr. Jones was a son of Ruby Mae Jones of Hartwell and Ora Stowers of Greenville, S.C. He was a member of New Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church with the Rev. T.L. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Elma R. McEntyre Calhoun Elma Raines McEntyre, 87, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 1996. A native of Gordon County, Mrs. McEntyre was a daughter of the late Lee and Josephine Mooney Raines. She was a retired dietician at the University of Georgia and a member of Sonoraville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Jacob M. Medley Watkinsville Jacob Michael Medley, 6, of 1060 Sharon Place died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996. A native of Buford, S.C., Jacob was a son of Adrian Medley of Watkinsville and Christi Hickman of Mankito, Minn. Haygood Athens Frances Norman Haygood, 85, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 1996. A native of Dewy Rose, Mrs. Haygood was a daughter of the late George Mosely and Susie Elizabeth Pulliam Norman and the widow of Oscar Willford Haygood. She worked as a secretary for Haygood Shoe Store and was a member of First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today in Evergreen Memorial Park with Dr. Jon Appleton officiating.
