Brookshire, 67, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996. A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Brookshire was the daughter of the late Golden and Ophelia Griffeth Sims and the widow of Donice Brookshire. She was retired from Superior Garment Co. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home Memory Chapel with the Revs. Dwight Haymon and Terry Fleeman officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Darby, Winder; and two grandchildren. Royce Evans Hoschton Royce M. Evans, 78, of 865 Ward Road died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Evans was the son of the late Floyd J. and Lula Cash Evans and the widower of Virginia Phillips Evans. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at noon today at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel, Jefferson, with the Rev. Kenneth Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a brother, Reese Evans, Hoschton; two sisters, Lottie Bridges, Eufaula, Ala., and Doris Kinney, Mount Airy; and nieces and nephews. Bernard Heckner Winterville Bernard Sheldon Heckner, 88, of 124 Avery St. died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997. A native of Peoria, Ill., Mr. Heckner was the son of the late John G. and Jessie Sheldon Heckner. He was a farmer and a self-employed businessman. Survivors include his wife, Kay Heckner; a daughter, Jan Wolfe, Athens; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Annette Mattox Athens Annette K. Mattox, 77, of 165 Winston Drive died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996. A native of Wilkes County, Ms. Mattox was the daughter of the late John and Never Sue Woods King. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Clifford Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, with the Revs. David Sims and L.V. Turman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Survivors include a son, Joe L. A native of Greene County, Ms. Scott was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Scott. She was a member of Boswell Chapel Baptist Church and a graduate of Greene-Taliaferro Comprehensive High School. A lifelong resident of Clarke County, Mr. Sullivan was the son of Roger and Sandra M. Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Russell Sullivan. He was a 1986 graduate of Clarke Central High School and was employed with Butler Fleet Maintenance. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Evergreen Memorial Park with Dr. Dan Crawford officiating. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a sister, Paige Meyer, Augusta; his maternal grandparents, Howard and Lorene Moseman, Athens; and his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Sullivan, Camilla. Dr. Wakeman was the son of the late Elbe and Edna Hallmark Wakeman and the widower of Norma Dean Wakeman. He owned and operated Wakeman Chiropractic Clinic for the past 40 years in Winder.
