Survivors include a sister, Joyce Lemonds, Monroe; three sons, Olin Armistead, Billy Armistead and Timothy Armistead, all of Monroe; a sister, Sara Kendrick, Toccoa; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Meadows Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mary Howard Dahlonega Mary Remona Gibson Howard, 52, formerly of Habersham County, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997. A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Howard was a daughter of the late Harrison and Ethel Ivester Gibson and the widow of Joe Howard. She was a member of Free Chapel Worship Center of Gainesville. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Whitfield Funeral Home, Baldwin, with the Rev. Jerry Brackett officiating. Burial will be in Turnerville Church of God Cemetery. Survivors include four sons, Tony Howard, Steve Howard and Stacey Howard, all of Dahlonega, and Jamie Howard, Dawsonville; three sisters, Wilma Gomez, Clarkesville, Cora Lee Whitfield, Cornelia, and Carolyn Tyler, Clayton; three brothers, Thurmond Gibson and Garnett Gibson, both of Toccoa, and Clinton Gibson, Clarkesville; and a granddaughter. Mary Jones Athens Mary Luerine Rine Jones, 81, of 106 James Road died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late Georgia Jennings Jones and Sam Shaw. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie R. Flint officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Survivors include two daughters, Royzelle Jones and Dorothy Jones, both of Athens; a son, Harold Wade Jones Sr., Athens; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mack & Payne Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Hazel S. King Greensboro Hazel S. King, 67, of 1381 Walker Church Road died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997. A native of Greensboro, Mrs. King was a daughter of the late Evon and Marion Harris Smith. She graduated from Morris Brown College and the University of Georgia, receiving a master's degree in education. She was retired after 25 years as a school teacher in the Georgia school system. She attended Seventh Day Adventist Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery with the Revs. R.L. Mallory, S. Billips and Preston Jacks officiating. Survivors include a sister, Mildred Mallory, Greensboro; two brothers, Lewis Smith and Whinphrey Smith, both of Chicago, Ill.; and nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Clarence Smith, Gerald Smith, Morris Smith, Franklin Mallory, Kenneth Mallory and Wayne Mallory. The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Watts Funeral Home, Union Point. A native of Wilkes County, Mr. Maxwell was a son of the late Thomas W. and Frances Rebecca Smith Maxwell. He was a retired plant manager and a member and deacon of Beaverdam Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifton Barnett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include three sisters, Louise Kelly, Tifton, Ibby Smith, Ellenwood, and Kathleen Kennedy, Greenville, S.C.; and two brothers, Bill Maxwell, Lincolnton, and Richard Maxwell, Washington. A native of Wilkes County, Mrs. Mayes was a daughter of the late Rob and Hattie Cox and the widow of David Mayes. She was preceded in death by sons Robert Cox, Dave Mayes and Willie Joe Mayes. She was a house keeper and a member of Zoar Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Washington. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Zoar CME Church with the Rev. G.L. Avery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Pickelsimer was a son of the late Charlie and Josephine Hancock Pickelsimer. He was a former welder and was a member of Edwards Baptist Church.
