Lucius Adams, 51, of 908 Greenville St. died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Adams was a son of the late Roy George and Tamer Teasley Adams. He was employed with John C. Calhoun School and attended Abbeville Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Iva City Cemetery with the Rev. James Kelley officiating. Survivors include his wife, Linda Hall Adams; three stepdaughters, Windy Brown, of the home, and Linda Jo Horton and Melissa Walters, both of Abbeville; a stepson, Wayne Brown, Abbeville; a sister, Martha Benton, Carlton; a brother, James Adams, Elberton; and four stepgrandchildren. A native of Detroit, Mr. Bryant was a son of the late Ralph T. and Joyce Wheatley Bryant. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1976 and was a member of the Georgia Army National Guard for eight years. He was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Berry Funeral Home, Elberton, with the Rev. David McConnell officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery, Elberton. Survivors include three brothers, Rodney Bryant and Greg Bryant, both of Elberton, and Randy Bryant, Athens; a half brother, Wesley Bryant, Bowman; a niece, Kelly Danielle Bryant, Elberton; and a nephew, Charles Alex Bryant, Elberton. Jonathan Chamberlain Jefferson Jonathan Brian Chamberlain of 4558 Jefferson River Road, infant son of Joe and Barbara Carter Chamberlain of Jefferson, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997. A native of Tattnall County, Mrs. Edwards was a daughter of the late Henry Franklin and Susan Smith Southwell and the widow of Asbury Edwards. A 1931 graduate of the University of Georgia, she was retired after 35 years as an elementary school teacher in Elbert County. She was a member of Georgia Retired Teachers Association and Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Forest Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. John Heckman officiating. A native of Greene County, Mr. Miller was the widower of Ola Thornton Miller and was preceded in death by a son, Elmer Miller. He was a retired security guard and was of the Baptist faith. Mack & Payne Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. H.W. Summerour Hoschton H.W. "Howard" Summerour, 83, of 7807 Highway 124 West died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997. Mr. Summerour was born in Hall County on Dec. 21, 1914, to the late John Marcus and Lona Mae Goss Summerour. At the age of 6 years, Mr. Summerour and his family moved to Forsyth County, where he lived until moving to Jackson County in 1955. He was a retired poultry and cattle farmer, past president of the Jackson County Farm Bureau and a member of the Cattleman Association. He served on the Jackson County Board of Commissioners from 1968 to 1972 and was then elected chairman, serving four years. He was a member of Rockwell Lodge F&AM 191 and past master of both Rockwell Lodge and Mount Zion Lodge in Forsyth County. He was a member of YAARAB Shrine Temple, Atlanta, a member of Lanier Shrine Club and past worthy patron of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and Walnut Fork Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Little-Davenport Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Revs. G.A. Lawson, Kenneth Brewer and Tim Strickland officiating. Burial was in Alta Vista Cemetery with Masonic rites.
