A native of Franklin County, Ala., Mrs. Adkins was a daughter of the late Captain Lee and Lillie R. Veal Childers. She was a professional cook and of the Baptist and Catholic faiths. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Banks officiating. Survivors include her husband, Lonnie Adkins; two sons, Charles W. Burt, Pritchard, Ala., and John W. Butler, Commerce; a sister, Irene Mead, Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, Jimmy Childers and Clyde Childers, both of Mobile, Ala.; and nine grandchildren. Reba Bennett Commerce Reba Louise Knight Bennett, 72, of 123 Willoughby Homes, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997. A native of White County, Mrs. Bennett was a daughter of the late William Homer and Essie Mae Ward Knight. She was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Community Baptist Church with the Revs. David Strickland and Allen Seagraves officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens. William Causey Sr. Athens William Claude Causey Sr., 81, of 625 West Lake Dr., died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997. Mr. Causey was born in Bowden, Ga., a son of the late Eugene Ambrose and Ada Bartlett Causey. He lived all of his life in Athens. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 89th Calvary Reconnaissance Squad, seeing major action in the Battle of the Bulge and Remagen Bridge. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he was elected campus leader. He was a teacher of vocational agriculture, District 3, State of Georgia, for 35 years. In 1957, he founded Farm Electric Inc., a wholesale electric distributor in Athens, where he was chief executive officer until his death. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Athens. He was preceded in death by a son, William Claude Causey Jr. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Athens with Dr. Jon Appleton officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery. A native of Commerce, Mrs. Doss was a daughter of the late Daniel E. and Lizzie Bridges Murphy and the widow of Jack R. Doss Sr. She was a retired secretary from the DeKalb County Registrar's office. Greene Crawfordville Mark H. Greene, 81, of 424 Broad St., died Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997. A native of Tennessee, Mr. Green was a son of the late Frank and Mary Craig Greene and the widower of Frances Wynn Greene. He lived most of his life in Crawfordville. An Army veteran of World War II, he was self-employed as the owner and operator of Greene Garage and was a member of Crawfordville Baptist Church. Prior to serving as mayor of Crawfordville from Oct. 1974 to Oct. 1997, he was a Crawfordville city councilman. He was a member of Kiwanis and a 50-year member of American Legion Post 8. He served on the board of directors for the CSRA Regional Development Center and East Central Job Partnership Training. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Crawfordville Baptist Church with Drs. Jimmy Waters and James Elder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Kidd was a son of the late Dewey T. and Mae Bell Moon Kidd. He was preceded in death by twin sons, Ronald Kidd and Donald Kidd. An Army veteran, he was an ordained Baptist minister and a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, where he served as pastor for the past 23 years. He served two years at Rice Creek Baptist Church.
