The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home, Toccoa. Hartrell Dover Chattanooga, Tenn. Hartrell Samuel "Bob" Dover, 75, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996. A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Dover was a son of the late Oscar Samuel and Rilla DOVERElmore Dover. An Army veteran of World War II who served in the 888 Airborne Engineers and the 82nd Airborne Division, he received numerous decorations, including the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. He attended New York University and was a professional prize fighter. He joined the Chattanooga Police Department in 1948 and was named "Policeman of the Year" in 1968 by the Fraternal Order of Police Rock City Lodge. He served as president of the local FOP in 1970-71 and treasurer of the national FOP in 1972. He was instrumental in starting a FOP-sponsored summer camp for underprivileged children at Camp Ocoee, and after retiring from the Police Department in 1973, he worked as a sales representative for Momar Inc. in Atlanta for 23 years. He was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church and Brainerd Masonic Lodge 736 F&AM. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at Ridgeview Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Stonecypher officiating. Burial was in the U.S. National Cemetery.
