A native of Elbert County, Mr. Alexander was a son of the late Joe and Katherine Alexander. He was a member of Hartwell First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hartwell First Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Granberry officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Survivors include his wife, Alberta Alexander; three daughters, Earnestine White, Hartwell, Josephine Wilkins, Stone Mountain, and Catherine Stowers, Canon; a son, Oscar Lee Alexander, Athens; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Broome, 84, formerly of Lavonia, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997. A native of Oconee County, S.C., Mr. Broom was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Broome and widower of Lela Honea Broome. He was preceded in death by a son, Chevis Eugene "Rudy" Broome. A Navy veteran, he served as a merchant marine in World War II. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and had attended Lavonia Church of God. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hamby-Weldon Funeral Home, Lavonia, with the Revs. J. Harbin Sanders and Steven D. Hamby officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens North. Survivors include five daughters, Bonnie Whitsel, Lavonia, Barbara Gilmore, Athens, Reggie Kennedy, Canon, and Peggy Hall and Shirley Morris, both of Hartwell; a son, David Dean Broome, Lavonia; two sisters, Thadius Adams, Anderson, S.C., and Junior Davis, Townville, S.C.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. A native of Anderson, S.C., Mrs. Forrester was the widow of Grady Forrester. She was a retired textile worker at New Holland Cotton Mill and a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Homer. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A native of Crawfordville, Mrs. Harper was a daughter of the late Charlie C. and Gertrude Snelson Harper and the widow of Clyde E. Harper. She lived most of her life in Athens and was a homemaker and a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Arthur B. Hosea. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Hosea. She was a homemaker and a member of Carnes Creek Baptist Church and Golden Age Sunday school class.
