A native of Jackson County, Mr. Adams was a son of the late Obediah and Estelle Pittman Adams. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was retired machinist at Westinghouse and was a member of Berea Baptist Church, where he was a member of the board of deacons. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Berea Baptist Church with the Revs. Grady Jordan and Verlin Reece officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Daisy Bridges Adams; a daughter, Barbara Wheeler, Commerce; two sons, David Adams and Melvin Adams, both of Commerce; two sisters, Susie Seagraves, Commerce, and Lucille Smith, Nicholson; two brothers, Lee Adams and Paul Adams, both of Commerce; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Elizabeth Chapman Union Point Elizabeth "Aunt Bubba" Chapman, 54, of 201 Hart Ave. died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997. A native of Greene County, Mrs. Chapman was a daughter of the late Lynwood and Frances Simpson Taylor. She was a dispatcher supervisor for the Union Point Police Department, a Sunday school teacher and a Bible school director for many years, as well as a member of Bethesda Baptist Church, WMU and the Children's Committee. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bethesda Baptist Church with the Revs. Lem Clark and Jim Olds officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband, John Chapman; two sisters, Lynda Hubbard, Clayton, and Martha Manders, Union Point; and nieces and nephews.
