A native of Fulton County, Mr. Angel was a son of the late John Denver and Mattie Mae Miller Angel. He was an auto mechanic and a member of Black Knob Baptist Church. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bostwick Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Giles officiating. Survivors include his wife, Jean S. Angel, a daughter, Mildred B. Kittle, Bishop; four sons, Clifford S. Angel, James O. Angel, David J. Angel and Bruce N. Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, West, is in charge of arrangements. Dewitt Harwell Madison Dewitt Harwell, 82, of 2070 Greensboro Highway died Saturday, Sept. 7, 1997. A native of Taliaferro, Mr. Hartwell was a son of the late Maggie Byrd and William Franklin Harwell. He was a dairy farmer. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Simmons Funeral Home with the Rev. John McMillian officiating. Burial will be in Madison City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Survivors include his wife, Agnes D. Harwell, two daughters, Doris Durand, Madison, and Faye Harwell Cohen, Berkley Lake; four sons, Charles Harwell, Madison, Vernon Harwell, Warwick, R.I., James Harwell, Gainesville, and Ray Harwell, Eatonton; five sisters, Minnie Thomas and Elizabeth Cecil, both of Lexington, N.C., Mary Wright, Brookhaven, Lorene Powers, Thompson, and Ethel Marks, Mansfield; a brother, Fred Harwell, Ashboro, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. James Heery Jr. Athens James Thomas Heery Jr., retired Athens merchant and civic leader, died at his home, "Wahroonga," 2815 Jefferson Road, Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997. He was 69. The son of Louise Estes Cary of Decatur and the late James Thomas Heery Sr., he was born in Atlanta on Sept. 27, 1927. A veteran of the United States Navy, in 1954 he received a B.B.A. degree from the University of Georgia where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Mr. Heery began his career with General Motors. In 1959 he founded Heery's Clothes Closet in downtown Athens. He served on the board of directors of Southern Mutual Insurance Company, Citizens and Southern National Bank, and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Athens Area Planning Commission. Mr. Heery's civic participation also included directorships in the Salvation Army and Boys Clubs of Athens. He headed the Community Chest. A member of First United Methodist Church, Mr. Heery was a former Sunday school teacher, chairman of the Administrative Board and was a trustee of Young Harris College from 1972 to 1976. He was a past president of the Athens Country Club and a founder of Jennings Mill Country Club. Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. in Oconee Hill Cemetery with Dr. Bill Britt and the Rev. Grady Wigley officiating. Theresa D. Kelly Toccoa Theresa Louise Doggett Kelly, 39, of 311 Gresham Ave., Durham, N.C., died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997. A native of Bourne, Mass., Mrs. Kelly was a daughter of Thomas and Annette Houston Doggett of Taylors, S.C. She was a graduate of Converse College, Spartanburg, S.C., with a degree in interior design and a member of Mount Bethel Presbyterian Church, Durham, N.C. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Mount Bethel Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Hank Kreutzer, Graham McChesney and Edward Herring officiating. George Minish Commerce George Wilburn Minish, 46, of Neese Road died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997. A native of Commerce, Mr. Minish was a son of Mary Eliza Minish of Commerce and the late Woodrow Talmadge Minish. He was self-employed as a welder. Murray Athens John T. Murray, 80, of 172 White Court died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Murray was a son of the late Arlue and Effie Hart Murray. He was a retired maintenance worker and a World War II Army veteran and a member of Moon's Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services, with full military rites, will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in Moon's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Robert and Euginia Firth Carlton and the widow of Van Dewey Smith Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church.
