A native of Warren County, Mrs. Buzbee was a daughter of the late William Patrick and Harriet Martha Elizabeth Guy Jones and the widow of Charles Rollin Buzbee. She worked in the aircraft oxygen equipment field and was a member of First Baptist Church, Union Point. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at the church with the Rev. David Key officiating. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Carithers was a son of the late Claude Wilhite and Jewell Elizabeth Harris Carithers. A U.S. Army World War II veteran, he was a retired owner and operator of a furniture and grocery store and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Elberton. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Sarelle B. Flowers are optional; memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Frances S. Coile Athens Frances Stevens Coile, 86, of 470 Morton Road died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997. A native of Louisville, Mrs. Coile was a daughter of the late Joseph Newton and Leila Frances Ethridge Stevens and the widow of B. Frank Coile, to whom she was married for more than 61 years. She moved to Athens in 1928 to enter nursing school at Athens General Hospital. She was a longtime member of Athens First Methodist Church and of Circle No. 1. She had been a member of The So and Sew Club since she was a young woman. She had resided in Jacksonville, Fla., near her daughter, for the last six months. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Oconee Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Grady Wigley officiating. Ruth Downes Athens Ruth Downes of the Cobbham neighborhood died Monday, Jan. 7, 1997. Mrs. Downes was the widow of Carroll Downes. She had been very active in various community and social organizations. She was a longtime member and past president of the Athens Garden Club. She was an active member of the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Guild, the Athens Historical Society, the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation, Athens Country Club and "The Roadrunners." She will be remembered for her efforts to preserve the many historical antiquities of Athens and Clarke County and for her antique store, Hill Street Galleries, which she founded and managed for more than 27 years until her death. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Oconee Hill Cemetery. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-laws, John L.C.
