A native of Gloucester, Eng.,Mrs. Blondell was a daughter of Violet Thomas Mitchell of England and the late James William Mitchell. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Faith Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Joe Renfroe officiating. Burial will be in Toccoa City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Alvin Adrian Blondell; three daughters, Yvonne Adrian Firth and Sharen P. Sexton, both of Lavonia, and Linda C. Saunders, Fayetteville; two sons, Alvin James Blondell and Robert Mitchell Blondell, both of Marietta; three sisters, Joyce Mitchell Burton, Nicholson, Christine Arkle and Patricia Mitchell Groves, both of Brighton, England; a brother, James Henry Mitchell, Brighton, England; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Ray Burley Sr. Jefferson Ray Canada Burley Sr., U.S. Navy Chaplain, ret., 60, of 5881 Athens Highway, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997. A native of Mount Dora, Fla., Mr. Burley was a son of the late Ralph Canada and Janie Swinton Burley. He was a member of Hill First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hill First Baptist Church with Chaplains Walter M. Brown and William Beyer, the Revs. Bruce Hill, Ben Rivers, L.T. Dubose and David Nunnally and Dr. Ralph E. Burley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park with full military honors. Gerald Christian Hartwell Gerald Howard Christian, 61, of 485 Old Reed Creek Road died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997. A native of Anderson, S.C., Mr. Christian was a son of the late Howard J. and Ruby Scoggins Christian. He was a body and fender repairman and a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Olivet Church of God with the Revs. Wayne Durden and Sid Newell officiating. Burial will be in Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery, Bowman. A native of Gainesville, Mr. Heard was a son of the late Carrie Heard and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. John Tatum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. McLendon Memorial Funeral Home, Washington, is in charge of arrangements. Ellis E. Payne Tifton Ellis E. Payne, 69, of 11 Cedar Ridge Drive died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Payne was a son of the late Lennie Smith and Clifton Young Payne. He was a retired warehouse manager at Channell's Super Value, a member of San Marino Lodge 34 and was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at McCommons Funeral Home, Greensboro, with the Rev. Jim Olds officiating. Burial will be in Greensboro City Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Tim Payne, Alpharetta, and Mark Payne, Tifton; four sisters, Clara Hopkins, Greensboro, Doris Moon and Lois Rainey, both of Macon, and Marie Whitley, Athens; four brothers, Coy Payne, Harlem, Clarence Payne, Greensboro, Leonard Payne, Lake Charles, La., and Mike Payne, Athens; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Mark Payne, Tim Payne, Clarence Payne, Coy Payne, Leonard Payne and Mike Payne. Dr. Louis White Tifton Dr. Louis Edward "Ed" White, 61, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997. A native of Ider, Ala., Dr. White was a son of William Newton and Ada Tucker White of Ider. He earned a B.S. degree in agricultural education from Auburn University, served two years in the Army, earned a master's degree at the University of Alabama and a doctorate from North Carolina State University. He was a former director of the Rural Development Center in Tifton with the Georgia Extension Service. He was instrumental in establishing the Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition for which he was administrator and later, director. He retired in 1994 from the Georgia Extension Service and devoted all of his time to developing the Expo into the largest farm show in the nation. He received numerous awards and was affiliated with the Agricultural Alumni Association of Auburn University, University of Georgia Agricultural Alumni Association, National University Continuing Education Association, Georgia Adult Education Association, Georgia Association of County Agricultural Agents, Gamma Sigma Delta, Community Development Society, Georgia Young Farmer Association, North American Farm Show Council, National Young Farm Association and Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday an First Baptist Church of Tifton with Dr. Wayne Roe and the Rev. Mike Hobbs officiating. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Carolyn Young White; a daughter, Edice White Curry, Tifton; a son, William M. White, Athens; two sisters, Christine Smith and Sheila Simpson, both of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a brother, James White, Chattanooga, Tenn.; and a grandson, Caleb Edward Curry.
