A native of Greene County, Mr. Anderson was a son of the late John James and Janie Mullins Anderson. A Navy veteran, he was retired from the Loef Co. and was a lifetime member of VFW and AMVETS. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Oconee Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Weekley officiating. Survivors include two sisters, Nannie A. Michael, Watkinsville, and Alma A. Lyle, Chula; a brother, Ernest Mullins, Key West, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville. Mamie Blalock Commerce Mamie Lee Blalock, 81, of 226 Barber St. died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997. A native of Danielsville, Mrs. Blalock was a daughter of the late Frank and Etta Goss Shelnut and the widow of Grover Blalock. She was a homemaker. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Hilton Purvis officiating. Burial will be in Cabin Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include five daughters, Faye Arwood, Hull, Linda Ayers, Homer, and Rita Fountain, Etta Jane Leach and Hazel Leachman, all of Commerce; four sons, David Blalock, Colbert, Ernest Blalock and Paul Blalock, both of Danielsville, and Harold Blalock, Athens; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Jennie Bolton Athens Jennie D. Bolton, 87, of 455 Atlanta Ave. died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Bolton was the widow of Haron Bolton Sr. and was preceded in death by three children and a grandchild. She was a retired nursing assistant. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Winterville, with Brother Ronnie Wright officiating. Burial will be in Jennings Cemetery, Carlton. David Hawley Athens David Ray Hawley, 67, of Quail Run Drive died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997. A native of Sparta, Ill., Mr. Hawley was a son of the late Eugene and Frankie Hawley. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a staff sergeant in the Air Force and was a member of the color guard at the dedication of the historic Iwo Jima monument. From the 1950s through the 1980s, he was an executive in the glass and glazing business in Chicago, Minneapolis, Atlanta and Little Rock. While in Chicago, he was responsible for all aspects of glass installation for the city's signature John Hancock building, as well as the distinctive cloverleaf-shaped Lake Point Towers, the first skyscraper with an undulating glass wall. Mr. Hawley, who was disabled, moved to Athens in 1988 and was an active member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, the Men's Group and Sunday school. He served as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, for which he helped establish the Habitat Store. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Oconee Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Peggy Little and the Men's Group officiating. Survivors include his wife, Madeline Hawley; a daughter, Melinda Hawley, Athens; a brother, Dale Hawley, Harbor Point, Texas; and two sisters, Donna Rapp, Sparta, Ill., and Fran Bailie, Augusta. A lifelong resident of Stephens County, Mrs. Lusk was a daughter of the late Jasper and Lena Watson Smith. She was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Lusk and Jim Lusk. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Peeples was a daughter of the late Tom and Katherine Floyd Manley. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Ricky Vickery and Geraldine Vickery. She was a retired textile worker, a homemaker and a member of Double Branches Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Double Branches Baptist Church with the Revs. David Wilson and Timothy Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
