A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Adams was a daughter of the late Ephriam and Lula Blackwell Mattox and the widow of Lonnie Adams. She was preceded in death by a son, Cliford Adams. Funeral services will be at noon today at Mack's Funeral Home, Hartwell. Burial will be in Vance Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Lula C. Schandrett, Marietta; a brother, Andrew Mattox, Philadelphia; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Clara Alexander Royston Clara Benjamin Alexander, 84, of 599 Daniel St., died Monday, Oct. 7, 1997. A native of Franklin County, Ms. Alexander was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Rose Lee Underwood Alexander. She was a member of Saint Mary Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Saint Mary CME Church with the Rev. Dafton Watts officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Survivors include two sisters, Annie Lois Alexander and Martha Alexander, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a brother, Lucius H. Alexander, Philadelphia. The family is at the residence. Mack's Funeral Home, Hartwell, is in charge of arrangements. John Hardmon Hartwell John Thomas Hardmon, 72, of 2659 Cokesbury Highway, died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997. A native of Wilkes County, Mr. Hardmon was a son of the late Ella Mae Forshee and the widower of Mary Frances Hardmon. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Flat Rock Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with Pastor Eddie Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Survivors include six daughters, Sarah Tate, Mary Cowan, Mae Lue Allen and Josephine Hardmon, all of Hartwell, Ella Hardmon, Elberton, and Diane Delafuente, Harlingen, Texas; three sons, Robert E. Hardmon, Columbus, Thomas Hardmon, Hartwell, and James H. Hardmon, Lincoln; 22 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family is at the residence of Sarah Tate, 2659 Cokesbury Highway. Mack's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Frank Harper Monroe Frank "Jessie" Harper, 77, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997. A native of Morgan County, Mr. Harper was a son of the late Austin F. and Cynthia S. Harper. A World War II veteran, he was self-employed as a welder. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Edwards Family Cemetery in Watkinsville. Survivors include his wife, Claire E. Harper; two daughters, Elaine Harper, Monroe, and Mary Harper Buff, Social Circle; a son, Johnny Harper, Winder; eight sisters, Hazel Craft and Martha Carter, both of Statham, Frances Brown, Monroe, Shirley Harper, Athens, Virginia Peck, Farmington, and Willie Mae Carson, Ruth Harper and Zella Shelnutt, all of Bogart; a brother, Bud Harper, Montgomery, Ala.; and four grandchildren. Sallie Martin Winder Sallie Grace Martin, 89, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997. A native of Walton County, Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late Tom and Mattie Jane Ledbetter McDonald and the widow of Arthur Hugh Martin Sr. She was preceded in death by a son, Arthur Hugh Martin Jr. She was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Carter-Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Doyle Sims officiating. Burial will be in Mount Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery. Vera Tuck Athens Vera Leona Tuck, 90, of 1446 E. Broad St., died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997. A native of Clarke County, Ms. Tuck was a daughter of the late William Boyd and Ruby Eli Howe Tuck. She was retired from L.M. Leathers Co. and was a member of East Athens Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Oconee Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Don Leiptrott officiating. Survivors include four nieces, Peggy Woodward Williams, Conyers, Sandra E. Tuck, Bogart, Loree Francis Bonner, Atlanta, and Theresa Wade, Athens. Pallbearers will be deacons of East Athens Baptist Church and Bill Wade. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East.
