Annie Merle Ellis, 72, died Thursday, July 10, 1997. Mrs. Ellis was retired after 20 years as an accounting clerk at University Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., and was a member of Glen Iris Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at noon today at Jefferson Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Knox Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jean O'Barr, Athens, and Beverly Johnson, Birmingham; two sons, John A. Ellis and Ronald R. Pauline Lewis Hartwell Pauline Dooley Lewis, 83, died Thursday, July 10, 1997. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Lewis was a daughter of the late King S. and Lonnie Pruitt Dooley and the widow of Charlie H. Lewis. She was preceded in death by a grandchild. She was a homemaker and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Strickland Funeral Home with the Revs. Sid Newell and Wade Lord officiating. Texie Martin Baldwin Tex Anna "Texie" Simmons Martin, 92, died Thursday, July 10, 1997. A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late Joseph Charles and Elizabeth Brookshire Simmons and the widow of William M. " Bill" Martin. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Martin, and a granddaughter, Deborah Sue Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of Baldwin Baptist Church. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Perry was a son of the late Luke Henry and Mellie Elizabeth McElreath Perry. He was a retired farmer and employee of Overhead Door of Georgia. He was a veteran of World War II, where he received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Good Conduct medals, and a member of Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Robert Passmore, Pierce Norman and Larry Joe Wilbanks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pete Terlaje Elberton Pedro "Pete" Salas Terlaje of 409 E. Church St. died Wednesday, July 9, 1997. A native of Agana, Guam, Mr. Terlaje was a son of the late Francisco Flores and Maria Salas Terlaje. He was a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College and received a master's degree in public administration from the University of Alaska and his doctorate in jurisprudence from John Marshall Law School. He was the honorary ambassador-at-large for Guam and a retired lieutenant colonel, having served in the Army from 1955 to 1975. He was chief investigator with the Georgia Department of Human Resources and was of the Catholic faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Berry Funeral Home with Deacon Kevin Peek officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Jackie E. A native of Stephens County, Mrs. Warren was a daughter of the late Arling and Maggie Grant. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir.
