Colston Watkinsville Roy Wayne Colston, 65, of 1060 North Woods Road died Friday, July 11, 1997. A native of Bartow County, Mr. Colston was the son of Lillian Colston of Adairsville and the late Cecil Colston. He was preceded in death by a son, Rory Colston. He was retired from the Naval Air Station, Beeville, Texas, and was a former electrician at the U.S. Navy Supply Corps School in Athens. He was employed for many years by Lockheed Aircraft and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Bernstein Funeral Home with retired Capt. Mark Fite officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Park. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Helen Hammond Colston; two brothers, Delano Colston, Canton, and Ralph Colston, Adairsville; two sisters, Dot Cash and Linda Bailey, both of Adairsville; a stepdaughter, Patricia Hammond Thomas, Watkinsville; and several nieces and nephews. The family is at the residence of Patricia Hammond Thomas, 1060 North Woods Road. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Georgia Inc., c/o St. Mary's Hospital, 1230 Baxter St., Athens, Ga. 30606. Willie Fulbright Lavonia Willie Ruth Craig Fulbright, 76, of 101 Textile Ave. died Friday, July 11, 1997. A native of Rabun County, Mrs. Fulbright was a daughter of the late Albert and Alice Gosnell Craig and the widow of Horace Ray Fulbright. She attended Tugalo Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, with the Revs. Marvin Whitworth and Tony Hancox officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Survivors include four daughters, Margie Hancox, Cameron, N.C., Avis Watkins, Bowersville, Vivian Leopard, Martin, and Grace Jaynes, Lavonia; a son, Horace Fulbright, Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister, Della Holcombe, Toccoa; a friend, Henry Mitchell, of the home; 19 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. Grandsons Johnny Hancox, Wilton R. Hancox, Derek Hancox, Curtis Watkins, Ned Godfrey and Randy Joe Lester will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. today. Charles Poore Athens Charles Lee Poore, 80, of 161 Holman Ave. died Friday, July 11, 1997. A native of Hart County, Mr. Poore was a son of the late George B. and Minnie Ridgway Poore and the widower of Ethel Abernathy Rose Poore. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired nurseryman. Through his knowledge and love of plants and flowers, he brought much beauty into the world around him and much joy into his friends' lives. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Day Chapel in the State Botanical Garden of Georgia at 2450 S. Milledge Ave. with the Revs. Grady Wigley and Bill Britt officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Poore, Providence, R.I.; a sister, Edna Bradley, Canon; a niece, Ann Gurley, Canon; three nephews, James Poore, Fayetteville, Douglas Bradley, Pittsburgh, and Wayne Bradley, Columbia, S.C.; tender care-givers, Geneva Brown, Athens, and Orlena Webb, Toccoa; and a host of other relatives, neighbors and friends. Shirley Athens Clara C. Shirley died Tuesday, May 27, 1997. A native of Union City, Tenn., Mrs. Shirley was the manager of Baptist Book Stores in five states for 30 years. Survivors include three daughters, Pat Satterwhite, Athens, Nancy Boyd, Nashville, Tenn., and Sue Shirley, Alpharetta; a sister, Sarah Collins, Fulton, Ky.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
