A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Burgess was a son of the late Charlie Sanders and the late Emmily Mitchell and the widower of Minnie Mae Burgess. He was a member of Thankful Baptist Church in Stephens. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Thankful Baptist Church with the Revs. Dwight Sims and Frank Dillard officiating. Burial will be in Old Mount Zion Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Survivors include six daughters, Rosa Mae Jewell, Minnie Louise Burgess and Shirley D. Burgess, all of Athens, Janette Gresham and Sally Stevens, both of Crawford; and Caroly Burgess, Lexington; three sons, Albert Burgess Jr., Lexington, David Burgess, Louisville, and Willie Lee Burgess, Athens; two sisters, Magnolia Moses and Sarah Freeman, both of Stephens; a brother, David Burgess, Athens; 38 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Sidney Collins Athens Sidney Lanier Collins, 60, of 1060 Hull Road died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997. A native of Elberton, Mr. Collins was a son of the late W.H. "Bill" and Alma Thompson Collins. He was a partner of Engineered Fabrication Inc. in Watkinsville and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Athens and the Athens Elks Lodge. He was retired from the Army Reserve. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Hicks Funeral Home in Elberton with the Revs. Jim Winn and Morris Sapp officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman. Survivors include his wife, Glenda Fleming Collins; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jim Herrin, Gastonia, N.C.; a niece, Judy Carol Herrin, Gastonia; a nephew, William Dana Herrin, Gastonia; and a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, Sue and Dewey Isom, Elberton. Pallbearers will be Charles Davis, Bob Martin, Jack Lundy, Donald Chandler, Roger Guest, Johnny Lay, Bart Rice and Jerry Hewell. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Engineered Fabri cation Inc. and Drs. Main St., Winterville, Ga. 30683. Jessie Lee Fulton Decatur Jessie Lee Chocolate Fulton of 2741 Cocklebur Road, formerly of Athens, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997. A native of Taliaferro County, Mrs. Fulton was the widow of Jesse Emerson Fulton. She was preceded in death by a son, Jasper Fulton. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Spring Baptist Church in Philomath. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Old Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Gresham officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Athens. Survivors include three daughters, Rosie Respert, Decatur, Hettie Stephens, Athens, and Sue Fulton, Morrow; five sons, Harold Fulton, James Fulton and Walter Fulton, all of Decatur, Willie Fulton, Atlanta, and Andrew Fulton, Athens; Roscoe Burrough, who was raised in the home, Augusta; and nieces and nephews. He was a retired self-employed carpenter and a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home in Winder with the Revs. Kelley Brisendine and Aleck Poolus officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Minnie McDonald Lynch; three sisters, Kathleen Thompson, Lexington, Ky., and Frances Wallace and Mae Walker, both of Monroe; a brother, C.B. Elsie Shook Madison Elsie Leola Mulkey Shook, 95, of 1051 Sunlight Court died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997. A native of Anderson County, Kan., Mrs. Shook was the widow of Curtis Elza Shook. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson and a great-great-grandson. She was a resident of Madison the past 11 years and had been a schoolteacher, telephone operator and bookkeeper. Funeral services will be be at 11 a.m. today at Bethany Baptist Church. Burial will be Friday in Hoisington, Kan. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Survivors include two daughters, Etta Bell Pyle, Buffalo, Mo., and Eula Mae Keener, Madison; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. A native of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Wood was a daughter of Glenn Kansorka of Martin and the late Audrey George Kansorka. She was a homemaker, a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and an honor student at Piedmont College, where she was majoring in education and was a member of the Alpha Chi sorority. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Hamby-Weldon Funeral Home in Lavonia with Ben Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
