Barnes Union Point Thomas Monroe Barnes, 75, of 206 Hillard St. died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997. A native of Hancock County, Mr. Barnes was a son of the late Tom D. Barnes and Flora Edwards. An Army veteran, he was a retired press operator with Jebco and was a member of Mount Stephen Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Lawrence Griffith officiating. Survivors include his wife, Mary Leach Barnes, Union Point; a son, Milton B. Barnes, Decatur; three brothers, Hayes Barnes, Pine Log, Allen Barnes, White Plains, and Edward Barnes, Lexington; two grandchildren, Dinian Morgan and Timothy Barnes; and two great-grandchildren, Misty Morgan and John Michael Barnes. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Callaway Funeral Home. Sue W. Burton Toccoa Sue Williams Burton, 83, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Burton was a daughter of the late L.M. and Octie Goolsby Williams and the widow of Clarence Barron and Thomas C. Burton. She was a retired insurance clerk for Coats & Clark and was a member of Toccoa Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Don Scott officiating. Burial will be in Toccoa City Cemetery. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Marie Dennard, St. Simons; four sisters, Laura Kane, Roswell, Mary Patton, Simpsonville, S.C., Millie Hogg, Atlanta, and Ruth Peeples, Eastanollee; a brother, O.N. Williams, Toccoa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and are asked to assemble at the mortuary at 1:30 p.m. today. 'Bill' Friar Toccoa William Hunter "Bill" Friar, 72, of 5764 Fernside Drive died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997. A native of Stephens County, Mr. Friar was a son of the late John Mitchell and Lucy Rothell Friar. An Air Force veteran of World War II, Mr. Friar was retired from The Life of Virginia, Toccoa Ford and Tabor Motor Co. He attended First Baptist Church in Toccoa, was a former member of Toccoa Lions Club and was a member of Toccoa Masonic Lodge 309 and VFW Post 4346. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Henry Fields officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Harris, 71, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997. A native of Forsyth County, Mr. Harris was a pastor in several Methodist churches in North Georgia. A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Phillips was a daughter of the late Jesse and Betty Billings Ivester and the widow of Henry Doyle Phillips.
