A native of Hart County, Mr. Anthony was a son of the late Tom and Ethel Vickery Anthony. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter. He was a retired farmer and retired from Le Tourneau Co. of Toccoa. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, Sunday school teacher and member of the first building committee, which proposed and managed the construction of the first modern sanctuary at Pleasant Grove. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hamby-Weldon Funeral Home with the Revs. Johnny Ashworth and Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens North. Survivors include his wife, Viola Higginbotham Anthony; a daughter, Loretta Herring, Lavonia; three sisters, Ruby Nell Anthon, Lavonia, and Elizabeth Prince and Eveleen Deloach, both of Due West, S.C.; two sons, L.T. Anthony, Royston, and Kenneth Don Anthony, Lavonia; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Charles Allen, Gettis Allen, Carey Bellamy, James Chitwood, Charles Chitwood, Jeff Floyd, Will Singleton and Greg King. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. George Bonds Commerce George Bonds, 73, of 80 Hill St. died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Bonds was a military veteran and a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Warren Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Zuella Bonds; two daughters, Linda McWhorter and Annie Chaney; two sons, George Bonds Jr. and Willie C. Henry Byrd Sewickley, Pa. Henry Lee Byrd, 71, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997. A native of Lafayette, Mr. Byrd was a son of the late Annie Ruth Moore and Henry Lee Byrd Sr. A graduate of Georgia Tech and an Army veteran, he was a civil engineer with Pittsburgh Bridge & Iron Co. and Wilmerding Steel Co. and had been the tax collector for the borough of Osborne, Pa. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Senior Men's Club, F&AM, Scottish Rite Pittsburgh and Presbyterian Church of Sewickley, where he was a deacon. He was a past master of Doric Lodge. Funeral services were Oct. 25 at Richard D. Cole Funeral Home with the Rev. David McFarlane officiating. Burial was in Sewickley Cemetery. A native of Columbus, Mr. Clark was a son of Kema Greene Clark of Dearborn, Mich., and Gerald Earnest Clark of Kansas City, Kan. He was a graduate of Athens Tech and used his associate degree in child development at the Pre-School Academy in Athens. He was an avid skateboarder and was employed by Lariscy Mechanical Fabricators of Sylvania. Funeral services were Friday at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home in Sylvania with the Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Gray. Donald Ray Collins, 62, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997. A native of Stephens County, Mr. Collins was a son of Sue Coe Collins Williams of Toccoa and the late Bill Collins. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was employed in the construction industry for many years and was of the Baptist faith. Memorial services will be private. Taylor, 92, formerly of Elberton, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997. A native of Rowan County, N.C., Mr. Taylor was a son of the late John William and Lula Cora Shaver Taylor and the widower of Annie Lou Fricks Taylor. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Taylor Prather. He was a retired superintendent in the granite industry and was a member of Philomathea Masonic Lodge 25 and Elberton First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the John Mashburn Sunday school class.
