A native of South Carolina, Mr. Bassett was a son of the late James and Pauline Hunsinger Bassett. He was an Army veteran and a machinist with Peterson Spring Co. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Patsy B. Hayes officiating. Survivors include his wife, Deborah Ann Epps Bassett, a daughter, Crystal Gail Vickery, Commerce; three sons, Timothy James Bassett, Scott Bassett and Jamie Bassett, all of Hull; three brothers, Jimmy Bassett, George Bassett and Woodie Bassett, all of Danielsville; three sisters, Patsy Hayes and Mary Bassett, both of Danielsville, and Bobbie Williamson, Lincolnton; and two grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made toward funeral expenses. Ruby Hammond Hull Ruby Adkins Hammond, 85, of Glenn Carrie Road died August 17, 1997. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Hammond was a daughter of the late Matt T. and Ruie C. Ward Adkins and the widow of John Robert Hammond. She was retired from Reliance Electric and a member of Mount Pleasant Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. Ralph Mabry officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery. Survivors include her brother, Will W. Adkins, Perry, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Willie Smith Toccoa Willie Bill Smith, 77, of 326 Prather Bridge Road died Friday, August 15, 1997. A native of Stephens County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Theo and Rosie Smith and the widower of Mary L. Brown Smith. He was a World War II veteran and a member of AMVETS Post 600. He was a member and deacon of the Fair Play Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fair Play Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Blackwell officiating. Burial will be in Pine Bethel Cemetery. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. The family is at the residence and will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home.
