Almond, 45, died Monday, Sept. 15, 1997. Mr. Almond was a son of Lizzie M. Almond of Winder. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Austin Chapel Church with the Rev. Percy Williams officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon. A wake will be conducted 7-8 p.m. today at Eberhart & Son Mortuary. William Boyd Augusta Dr. William Seaborn Boyd of 2315 Laurel Lane died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997. A native of Fayette County, Dr. Boyd was a son of the late William Hugh and Martha Frances Jones Boyd. He earned his bachelor's from the University of Georgia, where he graduated magna cum laude and was named to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his master's from Emory University and his doctorate from the Medical College of Georgia. He was a veteran of World War II and had a major role in the development of the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta. He began his medical practice in Augusta in 1947 and held numerous positions at St. Joseph's Hospital, including chief OB-GYN and chief of medical staff. He received many awards recognizing his service and contributions to the fine arts, as he was a well-known artist and had his work displayed at The Smithsonian. He was the author of two published books, "Familiar Classical Themes Arranged for the Church and Home Organs" and "Rewards of Creativity." He was a member of the Museum of Art and a charter member of the Presidents Club at the University of Georgia and a member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Augusta. Private graveside services were Thursday. A public memorial service will be announced later. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Elizabeth Kreps Boyd; and nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Platt's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Hosie Chenault Tignall Hosie D. Chenault, 77, of 1677 Broad St. died Sept. 17, 1997. A native of Wilkes County, Mr. Chenault was a son of the late John and Sylvia Chenault. He was preceded in death by a son, Hosie D. Chenault Jr. A veteran of World War II, he was a retired construction worker and a member of Thankful Baptist Church in Lincolnton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thankful Baptist Church with the Rev. C.S. Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A native of Stephens County, Mr. Denton was a son of the late Boyd A. and Johnnie Roberts Denton. He was involved in the trucking industry with DeKalb Concrete Co. and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Toccoa. A native of Gwinnett County, Mrs. Page was a daughter of the late Henry P. and Haicee M. Page. She was a retired lunchroom worker for Barrow County. Lucille Pannell Toccoa Lucille Addison Pannell, 88, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1997. A native of Stephens County, Mrs. Pannell was a daughter of the late William and Lydia Williams Addison and the widow of Clarence Burrell Pannell. She was a substitute teacher, a case worker with the Department of Family and Children Services and a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday school class and served in numerous church departments. A native of Banks County, Mr. Rylee was a son of the late Buris Lewallen and Grover H. Rylee Sr. and the widower of Bernice Duncan Rylee. He was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service and a member of Phi Delta Lodge 148, F&AM of Homer, Banks County Association for the Advancement of Retired People and Damascus Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
