A native of Hart County, he was a son of the late M. A. and Annie Hill Fleming. Mr. Fleming was a retired security guard. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW and Disabled Veterans. He was of the Baptist faith. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. DeWitt Waters officiating. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Young Fleming; two daughters, Judi McBride, Iva, S.C., and Shirley Dove, Spartanburg, S.C.; two sons, G. Ray Fleming, Dewy Rose, and A. Dennis Fleming, Elberton; two sisters, Mary F. Rice and Rosa Mae Williams, both of Elberton; a brother, Jule Fleming, Elberton; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Irene Ford-Goss Athens Irene "Kitty" Ford-Goss, 63, of 284 Savannah Ave., died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997. A native of Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Lizzie Ford. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hill Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Service Hurst officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Gilda Taylor and Cassandra Walker, both of Athens; four sons, James Goss, Andrew Goss Jr., Napolean Ford and Andre Walker, all of Athens; seven sisters, Geraldine Jackson, Baltimore, Md., Ozela Kenney, Bogart, and Bessie Powers, Jeanie Ford, Julia Sims, Juanita Goodwin and Mattie Merritt, all of Athens; three brothers, Jimmy Ford Sr., Roy Ford Sr. and Joe Louis Ford, all of Athens; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Hurley Funeral Home. Wesley Hunter Jefferson Wesley Brian Hunter, 18, of 464B Whitfield Road, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997. A native of Jackson County, he was a son of Sam William Hunter and Donna "Missy" Patton Hunter. He was a fork-lift operator at a textile mill and was of the Methodist faith. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lebanon Methodist Church with the Rev. Roy Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his grandparents, Seth and Mary Lee Hunter, Jefferson, and Glen Patton, Nicholson; and a great-grandmother, Mary Lenora Hunter. Pauline McElroy Cornelia Pauline Williams McElroy, 70, of Forest Avenue, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. A native of Cleburne County, Ala., she was a daughter of the late James Madison and Amey Cheatwood Williams, and the widow of Clay Edward McElroy. Mrs. McElroy was a retired school teacher, and had been named Teacher of the Year twice and inducted into the Habersham County Teacher Hall of Fame. She was a member of Cornelia First Baptist Church, and was active in working with the Soup Kitchens and Habitat for Humanity in Habersham County. She was a member of AARP. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cornelia First Baptist Church with Dr. T. Logan Smith and the Rev. Steve Doran officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Survivors include three sons, Garvis McElroy, Carnesville, David McElroy, Hartwell, and Norris McElroy, Stockbridge; a sister, Ruby Buttram, Bremen; a brother, Roy Williams, Weaver, Ala.; and four grandchildren. A native of Wilkes County, she was a daughter of the late James R. and Roberta Newsome Garrett. She was a retired vice president of Bank South and a member of United Methodist Women and the National Association of Banking Women. She was also the past treasurer of the Augusta District United Methodist Church and a member and past administrative board chairman of Smyrna United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Smyrna United Methodist Church with the Revs. Landon Carey and Ted Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
