Bennett, 85, of 413 E. Robert Toombs Ave. died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997. A native of Lincoln County, he was a son of the late George P. Bennett and Savannah Lee Strother Bennett and the widower of Janie Maude Matthews Bennett. He was a self-employed contractor and a member of Washington First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Washington First Baptist Church with the Rev. Albert Huyck and George Pate officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Baptist Cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Grace England and Shirley Whitfield, both of Augusta, and Garland Pate, Washington; a brother, Dudley Bennett, Augusta; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. "Don" Dick, 71, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997. A native of Bethel Ridge, Ky., Mr. Dick moved to Florida from Science Hill, Ky., some 30 years ago. He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter. He was a retired automobile salesman and was a member of the Belleview Masonic Lodge. He was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hiers Belleview Funeral Home, Belleview, Fla. A native of Steuben County, Ind., Ms. Draper was a daughter of the late Clyde E. and Bertha Vanwagoner Purdy and the widow of Claude M. Draper. She had lived in Athens for the last 13 years. She was a member of The Eastern Star in LaFayette, Ind. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Spring Vale Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Donald C. "Jack" Elder, 93, of 51 Barnett Shoals Road died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Elder was a son of the late Albinus Courtney and Evie McRee Elder. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert D. Elder Jr. Mr. Elder was founder and owner of Oconee Well Drillers until his retirement in 1978. He was a charter member of Ashford Memorial Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Watkinsville Cemetery on Whitehall Road with the Revs. G. Richard Hoard and Thomas E. John Hobson Athens Dr. John Lewis Hobson, 72, of 109 Georgetown Circle died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997. A native of Shelby County, Tenn., he was a son of the late Joel and Katherine Lewis Hobson. Dr. Hobson was a retired cardiologist, having been a member of various organizations including the American Medical Association, Harvard Alumni and Vanderbilt Alumni. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. There are no services scheduled. A native of Stephens County, Mrs. Vaughan was a daughter of Olivia Duvall Brock of Toccoa and the late Julius Grant Brock and the widow of Milton Baxter (Bud) Vaughan. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Georgia Department of Labor for 35 years. Mrs. Vaughan was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday school class. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Whitlock Mortuary with Dr. Henry Fields officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Formerly of Thomasville, Mr. Wimberly was a son of the late Kirk Spooner Wimberly Sr. and Eddie (House) Wimberly and the widower of Minnie Heath Wimberly. Mr. Wimberly was a manager at Nabisco for 45 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Thomasville, and Golden K of Thomasville. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Charles Houston and Bob Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
