Cox Athens Sallie B. Cox, 75, of 174 Saxon Wood Circle died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. A native of Hall County, Mrs. Cox was a daughter of the late Lon J. and Jeannie Hayes Head and the widow of Charlie Cox. She was a member of Attica Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Attica Baptist Church with the Revs. Buford Lockman and Robert Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Survivors include five daughters, Sara Gaston, Linda Roberts and Joyce Woods, all of Athens, Gail Herring, Hull, and Sallie McCannon, Nicholson; four sons, Billy Cox and Richard Cox, both of Athens, Johnny Cox, Danielsville, and Lonnie Cox, Colbert; 33 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at Bridges Funeral Home. Herman S. Dunagan Sr. Bethlehem Herman S. Dunagan Sr., 81, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. A native of Barrow County, Mr. Dunagan was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Rufus R. Dunagan. He was a retired cattle farmer. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Howard Banks officiating. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Dunagan, Bethlehem, and Juanita Tate, Winder; two sons, Buddy Dunagan and Herman Dunagan Jr., both of Winder; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Clarice Evans Lake City Clarice Evans, 87, formerly of Athens, died Friday, Oct. 17, 1997. A native of Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Ed and Mattie Griffith Evans. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Salem African Methodist Episcopal Church, Farmington, with the Rev. Sarah S. Billups officiating. Survivors include three sisters, Carmenetta Watson, Ruth Elder and Iris Fambrough; and nieces and nephews. Winfrey's Mutual Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements. Leroy Johns Bethlehem Leroy Johns, 80, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. A native of Fulton County, Mr. Johns was a son of the late Al L. and Beulah D. Johns. A World War II veteran, he served in Japan in the 453 Engineer Depot Co. as a sergeant in the occupation force. He retired after 43 years with the sheetmetal union 85 in Atlanta. He helped build two churches; Bethlehem First Baptist Church burned and was being rebuilt with his help. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Stanley Jordon, Ray Newman and Ray Godleski officiating. Burial will be in West View Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ruby F. Lane Sr., 78, of 635 Huntington Downs, Apt. 102, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. A native of Minneapolis, Mr. Lane was a son of the late Donald C. and Zetta Ogg Lane. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Macon Memorial Gardens, Macon, with the Rev. Bruce Dickerson officiating. Survivors include his wife, Raye West Lane; two daughters, Lauren Overton, Lutherville, and Madelyn Hutcheson, Athens; a son, Jack D. Lane Jr., Macon; two sisters, Bernice Woods, Wayzata, Minn., and Patricia B. Staehle, Crane Lake, Minn.; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Charlie McLendon Elberton Charlie McLendon of 1338 Bolton Drive died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. Mr. McLendon was a son of the late Mose and Lady B. Downer McLendon. He was a retired school teacher and a member of the National Education Association, the Georgia Association of Education, Music Educators National Conference, the Georgia Music Education Association and Granite City Elk Lodge 1343, and a founder of the Blackwell Memorial High School Reunion. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, where he was the church musician, and was director of Echoes of Heritage Choir. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Horace Ellison, John Strong, Bobby Watts and Jerome Vann officiating. Burial was in Lincoln Heights Cemetery.
