Anna Calloway Elberton Anna Allen Calloway, of 1300 Mineral Spring Road, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. Mrs. Calloway was a daughter of the late Gerod and Betty Pressley Allen and the widow of Willie Calloway. She was a member of Carlton Grove Baptist Church. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, Mr. Campbell was a retired inspector for Monroe Auto Equipment Co. and a member of Milltown Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the Senior Men's Sunday school class. An Army Air Corp veteran of the Korean conflict, he was retired from Chrysler Automotive Co. and was a member of Elberton Veterans of Foreign Wars and St. Mary's Catholic Church. "Thomas" and June Williams Haynie and the widower of Lillie Haynie. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Louise Haynie. An Army veteran, he was formerly associated with Toccoa Casket Co. and was retired from the Stephens County school system, where he was employed in the maintenance department. Walter Jackson Sr. Athens Walter Vernon Jackson Sr., 67, of 140 Benjamin Dr., died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Jackson was a son of the late Charlie and Estella Thrasher Jackson. An Army veteran of the Korean conflict, he received his B.S. degree from Albany State College and his master's degree from the University of Georgia. He taught school in Clarke and Barrow counties, was assistant football coach at Athens High and Industrial School, and served as head football coach at Burney Harris High School in 1965. He retired from the Clarke County school district in 1987 and had been working as a bailiff for the Clarke County State Court government. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 3910, Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, Albany State College Alumni and Shady Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Watkinsville, with the Rev. B.S. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. She was a former employee of Coats & Clark and Social Circle Textile Mill, was a mem ber of Toms Creek Baptist Church and attended Liberty Hill Baptist Church for many years. She was a graduate of the University of Maryland and was a teacher at Oconee County High School for 27 years.
