Jackson Funeral Home, Monroe, is in charge of arrangements. Lillian Chambers Toccoa Lillian Sims Chambers, 86, of 105 Nancy St. died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997. A native of Comer, Mrs. Chambers was a daughter of the late Jesse A. and Margaret Norris Sims and the widow of Howard Wesley Chambers. She received her bachelor's degree from GSCW and her master's degree from the University of Georgia. She taught high school in the Georgia school system for 40 years and was a member of Toccoa First Baptist Church and Friendship Sunday school class. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Henry Fields officiating. Burial will be in Colbert City Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Al Chambers, Toccoa; a sister, Margaret King, Sun City, Fla.; and three grandchildren. A native of Torrington, Conn., Mrs. Denis was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Benkoski and the widow of Fred N. Denis. She was a restaurant owner. Pearl Fabris Royston Pearl Mae Maxey Fabris, 95, of 1394 Hale Crossings Road died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997. A native of Shannon County, Mo., Mrs. Fabris was a daughter of the late Peter Paul and Arie Elizabeth Crowder Maxey and the widow of John Fabris Sr. She was preceded in death by two sons, Frank Fabris Sr. and Sidney Fabris, and a grandson, Sidney Fabris Jr. She was a homemaker and a member of Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church. A native of Franklin County, Miss Gholston was a daughter of the late Acie and Rebecca Butler Gholston. She was a member of Arnold Chapel Methodist Church in Carnesville, where she served on the ladies stewardess board and as missionary treasurer. Jackson-McWhorter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Rose Kuney Athens Rose Mary McMahon Kuney of 704 Duncan Springs Road died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997. A native of Falls City, Neb., Mrs. Kuney was a daughter of the late Hazel O'Rourke and Cecil McMahon. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne McMahon Kinsey. She attended St. Mary College in Leavenworth, Kan., and the University of Nebraska. Mrs. Kuney had lived in Athens since 1958 and was a leader of Senior Girl Scouts, an active member of the St. Joseph's School Parents Club and was for many years director of St. Joseph's Church choir. Mrs. Kuney and her husband, John S. Kuney, were co-chairs of the Community Concert Series, which created the only music scholarships available at the University of Georgia. A member of the Athens Roadrunners and Glenwood Garden Club, she was for many years associated with Hill Street Galleries. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Christopher Johnson, Phoenix, and Winslow and Dennis Loomis, Van Nuys, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, John Winslow and Joan Kuney, Mandeville, La.; another son, Mark Kuney, Houston; a brother, John McMahon, San Bernardino, Calif.; and six grandchildren, Dustin Johnson and Abigail Johnson, both of Phoenix, and Lauren Kuney, John Kuney Jr., Michael Kuney and Kevin Kuney, all of Mandeville. She was employed by the Greene County Board of Education for 18 years and was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board and church wardmen. A native of Banks County, Mrs. Norton was a daughter of the late N.L. and Lillie Mae Woods Lewallen and the widow of the Rev. Harrison Norton. She was a charter member of Toccoa Church of God and attended Toccoa Congregational Holiness Church.
