A native of Wilkes County, Mr. Blackwell was a retired janitor and a member of Gibson Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gibson Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Lamar Davenport officiating. Burial will be in City West Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Danny Blackwell Sr.; and a grandchild. Davenport-McLendon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Bessie Byrum Hartwell Bessie Mae Byrum Byrum, 90, formerly of Bowersville, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Byrum was a daughter of the late John and Dora Carnes Byrum and the widow of Hugh Dorsey Byrum. She was preceded in death by a son, Bob Byrum. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home with Reggie Rowland officiating. Burial will be in Northview Cemetery. Survivors include a son, George F. Byrum, Anderson, S.C.; two brothers, John Byrum Jr., Anderson, and Andrew Byrum, Hartwell; four sisters, Hailey Hamby, Blanche Dyar and Bonnie Sanford, all of Anderson, and Jewel Carnes, Hartwell; and three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Eugene Dalton Baldwin Eugene B. Dalton, 66, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997. A native of Banks County, Mr. Dalton was a son of the late Branson and Woodie Garrison Dalton. A veteran of the Korean War, he was the owner and operator of Gene's Refrigeration and Electrical Service and was a retired postmaster of the Baldwin post office. He was a past president of the National League of Postmasters and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Whitfield Funeral Home with the Revs. Frank Sailers, T.R. Sisk and James Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Jackson County, the Rev. Davis was a son of the Rev. Clyde Willie and Mazell Gary Davis of Jefferson. He was the pastor of Academy Baptist Church in Jefferson and an employee of the University of Georgia. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Revs. Gerald Mitton, Terry Chambers and Dennis Kesler officiating. Clara Whitehead Athens Clara L. Whitehead, 92, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997. A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Whitehead was a daughter of the late Cicero and Pearl Hayes Luke and the widow of Arthur Whitehead. She was a former textile employee. Marion Wilson Jefferson Marion D. "Doc" Wilson passed away on Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997, after an extended illness. Prior to retirement, Doc was employed with JEMC-Jefferson office for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Raford Wilson. He was a member of Galilee Christian Church.
