A native of Madison County, Mrs. Barber was a daughter of the late Jessie and Ella Watkins McDonald and the widow of Claude Thurmond. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Mount Tabor Baptist Church with the Rev. James McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Survivors include her husband, Brad Barber, Cedartown; three sons, Alex Thurmond and Wade Thurmond, both of Statham, and Ted Thurmond, Bogart; two sisters, Addie Mae Seagraves, Steinhatchee, Fla., and Vennie Thurmond, Statham; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Collon Deal Arnoldsville Collon E. Deal, 83, of 341 Belmont Road died Monday, Sept. 22, 1997. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Deal was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Deal. An Army veteran of World War II, he received the American Service Medal, the Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. He was retired from J. Swanton Ivy and was a member of Temple Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Joe Alloway officiating. Survivors include his wife, Lois Garrison Deal; two sisters, Pauline Daily, Gastonia, N.C., and Louise Coslow, Ila; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens. Ruby Linthicum Elberton Ruby Parham Linthicum, 87, died Monday, Sept. 22, 1997. A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Linthicum was a daughter of the late J.G. "Griff" and Sallie Mann Parham and the widow of Floyd "Turk" Dickerson and Phil Linthicum. She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Dickerson. She was a homemaker and a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. She was a retired inspector for Gips Manufacturing and a member of Women of Georgia Power, Hartwell First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday school class. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hartwell First Baptist Church with Dr. F. Hugh Kirby and the Rev. Charlie Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
