A native of Crawfordville, Mr. Barnhart was a son of the late Thomas and Mattie Jordan Barnhart. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Crawfordville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Dr. James B. Rodgers and the Revs. John Dillard, Walter Mobley and R.C. Lockhart officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Survivors include his wife, Susie Byrd Barnhart; two daughters, Idonia B. Reynolds, Detroit, and Lillian Odessa B. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Carithers was a daughter of the late Duke and Cora Archer Gibson and the widow of Dock Carithers. She was a retired employee of Jefferson Mills and a member of Jefferson Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jefferson Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Homer officiating. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, William C. "Billy" Sailors, Camden, S.C., and Dan Carithers, Atlanta; a sister, Mrs. John F. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Jackson Funeral Home. Stella Demore Turnerville Stella Jane Henderson Demore, 79, of Old Highway 441 died Thursday, Sept. 25, 1997. A native of Stephens County, Mrs. Demore was a daughter of the late Carle and Nancy Jane Anderson Henderson and the widow of James Demore. She was preceded in death by two sons, Wendell Demore and Allen Demore. She was employed with Wright Manufacturing Co. in Toccoa for many years and later was assistant postmaster of Turnerville Post Office. She was a member of Turnerville Homemakers Club and Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she was a member and secretary of the Ladies Sunday school class. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shirley Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Mize and Corbin Coley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Gaines was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ada Brown Howell. She was a retired sewing machine operator at Almar Manufacturing Co. in Tignall and a member of Living Word Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Elmhurst Cemetery with the Rev. Larry T. Davison officiating. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Griffeth was a son of the late James Lockland and Luticia Sims Griffeth and the widower of Lola Dodd Griffeth. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Lee, and a son, D.W. "Bubbar" Griffeth. He was retired from the poultry department at the University of Georgia. Kenneth Layton Summerville, S.C. Kenneth Wayne Layton, 38, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 1997. A native of Atlanta, Mr. Layton was a son of Anna Pfaffenberger Dantes of Summerville and the late James Layton. He attended schools in Oconee County and New Orleans and was employed as a cook. Memorials may be made to Boonhill United Methodist Church in Summerville. William Lewis Athens The Most Rev. William Oliver Lewis, 74, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1997. Archbishop Lewis was bishop of the Diocese of the South of the Anglican Catholic Church since 1986 and metropolitan of the church since 1991. He had also served at churches in the Midwest. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lewis. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Stephen's Church. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Featherstone Lewis; and five children, Stephen Lewis and Timothy Lewis, both of Kalamazoo, Mich., Christopher Lewis, Clearwater, Fla., Margot Lewis Moersch, Pittsburgh, and Madelon Lewis Reinhardt, Portland, Ore. Mae Strickland Danielsville Mae Ruth Strickland, 79, of Route 1, Box 1040, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997. A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, Mrs. Strickland was born March 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Comer C. and Addie Mae Threatt Echols. She was a retired social worker with Madison County Family and Children's Services and a member of Danielsville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Danielsville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Survivors include her husband, Robert G.
