A native of Detroit, Mrs. Adkins was a daughter of the late Frank and Ruby Ashworth Thornton. She was a homemaker, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and of the Presbyterian faith. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Berry Funeral Home with Roland Malina officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Survivors include five sons, Robert Goletz, Rick Goletz, Joseph Goletz, Brian Crawford and Keith Crawford, all of Elberton; two brothers, Alton Thornton and Johnny Thornton, both of Elberton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Wayne Bond, Steve Gunter, Morris Kelley, Mark Miller, Sam Nash and Pammy Webb. The family is at the residence and will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Flowers are optional; memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Fannie F. Bannister Hartwell Fannie Fleming Bannister, 80, 6815 Mount Olivet Road died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Bannister was a daughter of the late Walter E. and Lillian Bailey Fleming and the widow of Harold W. Bannister. She was a homemaker and a member of Reed Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of Circle Sunday school class and Golden Agers. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Strickland Funeral Home with the Revs. Ted Kelley and Luther Kay officiating. Burial will be in Nancy Hart Memorial Park. Survivors include a son, Rex F. Bannister, Hartwell; a brother, Garnett Fleming, Hartwell; and two grandsons, Jeremy Bannister and Justin Bannister. The family is at the residence. Janet Clelland Hoover, Ala. Janet Elizabeth O'Barr Clelland, 58, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997. Mrs. Clelland was a daughter of Lucile Howard O'Barr and the late Arnold Kenneth O'Barr. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Birmingham and an employee of Alabama Power Co. Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Elmwood Chapel, Birmingham. A native of Luray, S.C., Mrs. Mathews was a daughter of the late Bunion Fairfax and Nellie Jeffcoat Martin and the widow of Richard Harold Mathews Sr. She was a retired statistician with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Athens, and was a charter member of Green Acres Baptist Church and Green Acres Garden Club, both in Athens.
