A native of Stephens County, Mrs. Bennet was a daughter of the late Oscar and Montiree Wilbanks Pitts. She was a retired radio dispatcher for the City of Lavonia, a member of Lavonia Church of God and attended the East Lavonia Church of God. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Lavonia Church of God with the Revs. Johnny Barrett, Gettys Allen and Steven D. Hamby officiating. Burial will be in Lavonia City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Survivors include her husband, Lavonia Chief of Police Jimmy L. Bennett; five daughters, Vickie Lynch, Hartwell, Dale Evans, Ivey, Barbara Ballenger, Commerce, Brenda Barrett, Cornelia, and Tracie Hollingsworth, Royston; two sons, Farris Lynch, Lavonia, and Chad Bennett, Bowersville; two sisters, Lillian Allen and Lillie Worley, both of Clarkesville; three brothers, Floyd Pitts, Belton, S.C., Lamar Pitts, Anderson, S.C., and Alfred Pitts, Royston; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. William Branan Washington William Douglas Branan, 95, of 1219 Tignall Road, died Tuesday, July 29, 1997. A native of Morgan County, Mr. Branan was a son of the late W.J. and Annie Lou Vining Branan and the widower of Gurley Wells Branan. He was a retired postal employee and a member of First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Elvyn McDonald and Grady Mosley officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Dr. W.C. Branan, Washington; a sister, Elizabeth B. Burt, Decatur; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Bertie Camp Toccoa Bertie Mae Camp, 92, of 1416 Tugalo St., died Monday, July 28, 1997. A native of Stephens County, Miss Camp was a daughter of the late William Henry and Leila Hitt Camp. She was a graduate of Piedmont College and attended the University of Georgia. She was a retired teacher in the Stephens County school system after 43 years of teaching. She was a member of Stephens County Association of Educators, Georgia Association of Educators, National Educators Association, a charter member of Eastern Star and a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Emory-Vickey Sunday school class. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Revs. Bob Partridge, Jarrett Ragan and James E. Downs officiating. Burial will be in Toccoa City Cemetery. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Cooper was a daughter of the late William Newton and Cora Smith Rhodes and the widow of George Franklin Cooper Sr. She was preceded in death by three sons, William Ralph Cooper, George Franklin Cooper Jr. and Oliver David Cooper. She was a homemaker and of the Presbyterian faith. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Carlton City Cemetery with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. Survivors include two daughters, Alice Stallings and Margaret Bullard, both of Lithonia; a son, Jack R. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Evans was a daughter of the late Jim and Trilla Howell Winters and the widow of Benny Woodrow Evans. She was preceded in death by a daughter and a granddaughter. She was the last member of her immediate family, a homemaker and a Christian mother, and she attended Eastanollee Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Eastanollee Baptist Church with Kenneth Jackson and the Revs. Richard Ivester and Albert Hudson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Carolyn Gaines Auburn Carolyn Thomas Gaines, 76, died Tuesday, July 29, 1997. A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Gaines was a daughter of Dru Willie Thomas of Auburn and the late Robert L. Thomas and the widow of Al Gaines. She served in World War II as an Army nurse, was a nurse at Georgia Baptist Hospital and Winder-Barrow Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of Corinth United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Lisa Caine officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a daughter, Judy McNeal, Flowery Branch; a son, Charles A.
