A native of Wake County, N.C., Mrs. Berryman was a daughter of the late Beulah Hinson and James Homer Shivar. She was a 1956 graduate of the University of Georgia with a master's degree in education. She was a school teacher in Clarke County schools for 28 years and for two years in DeKalb County schools. She was a member of Walker United Methodist Church and Alpha Delta Kappa sorority. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday at Walker UMC with Revs. Rick Maeser and David Shivar officiating. Burial was at 3 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens. Survivors include her husband, W.C. "Bill" Berryman; two daughters, Becky Berryman Stevens, Athens, and Cathy Berryman, Atlanta; a son, W.C. Berryman Jr., Athens; a sister, Rebecca Martin, Athens; a brother, J.H. Shivar Jr., Watkinsville; four grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Tom Collier, Deleon Walker, Jack Snell, Robert Babb, Dennis Lovelace and Al LaCross. Memorials may be made to Walker United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. McCommons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. John P. Black Hull John P. Black of Sanford Community, Hull, Ga., died Wednesday, July 29, 1998. He celebrated his 54th birthday on July 26. He was the son of Ramie Turner Black of Cleveland, Ga., and the late Issac P. Black. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda Standridge Black, two daughters and sons-in-law, Johnette and Butch Appleby of Hull, Ga., and Amy and Dennis Smock of Danielsville, Ga., and his in-laws, Talmer and Oma Standridge of Cleveland, Ga. He was "Papa" to five grandchildren, Kristen, Branson and Matthew Smock and Stephen and Kaitlin Appleby. John was owner and sole technician of Black's Appliance Re pair Inc. He never won any honors for his job, but had hundreds of valued, loyal customers. John was an active member of Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church where he had served on the Administrative Council for numerous years. He was also very actively involved in the Athens Area Emmaus Community. Visitation will be Saturday, August 1, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 1998, at Gordons Chapel UMC with the Rev. Robert Passmore and the Rev. Billy Pittman officiating. Burial will be in Gordon's Chapel UMC Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hoke Howard, Neal Watson, George Bailey, Ray Cochran, Robert Davis and Steve Young. A native of South Carolina, Mr. Brown was a son of the late John Ashley and Mildred Miles Brown. He lived in Athens most of his life, was self-employed as a brick mason and of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today, Aug. 1, 1998, at Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel, Athens, with the Rev. Janice Loggins officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Jean Brown, Springtown, Texas; two sons, Michael Brown and Dennis Brown, both of Springtown, Texas; four sisters, Pat Jones, Clayton, Shelia Brown, Augusta, and Donna Busbee and Gail McClellan, both of Colbert; a brother, John Michael Brown, Augusta; two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A native of Winter Haven, Fla., Mr. Davis was a son of the late Roberta Davis. He was a tour bus driver. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Gillsville, with the Revs. Kennety Waddell and Darryl Womack officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Jean Davis; four daughters, Marie Dingus, Beaver, Ohio, Gail Harris, Memphis, Tenn., Donna Sundin, Virginia Beach, Va., and Crickett Wright, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a son, Marty Howard, St. Cloud, Fla.; three sisters, Adis Brown and Eleanor Duncan, both of Winter Haven, Fla., Jeanette Brown, Woodstock; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Drake was born in Madison County, April 2, 1917, a daughter of the late Will and Pearl Parson Garrett. She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Simon Carter. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Her husband was the late Roy Drake. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Pruitte Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Larry Boling and John McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Dove and Leevon Ray, both of Royston; a son, Larry G. Virginia Mauldin Cornelia Virginia Brown Mauldin, 66, of Pea Ridge Road died Friday, July 31, 1998. A native of Modoc, S.C., Mrs. Mauldin was a daughter of the late James Franklin and Florence Reese Brown. She was retired from Carwood Manufacturing after 22 years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church, Warner Robins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Whitfield Funeral Home, Baldwin, with the Rev. Clyde Garrison officiating. Burial will be in Veterans of Foreign Wars Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Raymond H. Brown, Harlem; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Grace Noble Athens Grace Elizabeth Onstott Noble, 104, of 801 Riverhill Drive died Tuesday, July 21, 1998. A native of Derry, N.H., Mrs. Noble was a daughter of the late Rev. Daniel and Anna Melissa Long Onstott and was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Clyde E. Noble Sr. She was a housewife, English teacher, theatre manager, librarian and secretary, and a member of First Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 1, 1998, at Bridges Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Joseph Berry, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Princeton, Ind. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Clyde E. Noble and Janet L. Annette Owens Orr, 87, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998. Mrs. Orr was a daughter of the late Ben and Esther Wall Owens and was the widow of Walter H. Orr. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she taught two generations of 3-year-olds in Sunday School. She was active in United Methodist Women and the Stay Young Older Adult Fellowship, and was a Red Cross volunteer for more than 30 years, having assisted with the Gray Ladies. She was a member of the Flowerdale Homemakers' Club and the Thursday Culture Club. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday at W.E. Pegues Funeral Home with the Revs. Eugene Horton, Betty Flynn and Ron Barham officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Barrow Memorial Gardens, Winder. Survivors include a son, Ben J. Orr, Tupelo; three sisters, Mildred Orr, Winder, and Eudene Cooper and Marie Harris, both of Stone Mountain; two granddaughters and a great-grandson. A native of Banks County, Mr. Parker was a son of the late Arthur and Jennie Carter Parker. He was a member of Lamar Christian Church and was retired from Schnadig Corporation after more than 45 years of service. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Lamar Christian Church with Mike Robertson and the Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mary Andrews Parker; two sons, Lamar Parker, Cornelia, and Greg Parker, Baldwin; and three grandchildren.
