House Tignall Gladys Echols House, 94, 227 Church St., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997. A native of Wilkes County, Mrs. House was a daughter of the late Swep Clifford Echols and Ellen Witcher Echols and the widow of Robert Fulton House. She was a homemaker and served as W.M.U. Director for several years. She was a member of Tignall Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Tignall Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Fincher officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Miriam House, Washington; a son, Richard House, Carlton; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ben Long, Jack Rhodes, Dan Seymour, Donald Ware, Billy Savage and Ernest Lamar. Mrs. House will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Hopkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Elbert 'Red' Sims Winder Elbert "Red" Sims, 75, 53 Clifton Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997. Sims was a son of the late Sanford and Ruby Sims and the widower of Margene M. Sims. He was a World War II veteran and the owner of Atlanta Athlete Garage in Atlanta. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral Home in Winder with the Rev. Bill Baggott officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Wood, Winder; a brother, Fred Sims, Winder; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. today. Betty P. Owens Monroe Betty P. Owens, 80, of Monroe died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997. Ms. Owens was a daughter of the late Rufus and Rosa M. Jackson Parker. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Davis. Hollis and Mamie Tumlin Hollis. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was connected with the Big Ace Corporation. Roberts Winder Mary Etta Lemmonds Roberts, 71, of Winder, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997. A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Roberts was a daughter of the late Stark Hunter and Ona Harris Hunter. She was a retired a seamstress with Carwood Manufacturing Company, Monroe. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Carter-Stewart Funeral Home. Survivors include Mrs. Roberts' husband, Sam Roberts; a daughter, Jennifer Montrouse, Covington; a son, James C. The family will receive friends after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home. Rosa Mae Rittenberry Athens Rosa Mae Rittenberry, 83, 270-A Arch St., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997. A native of Greene County, Ms. Rittenberry was a daughter of the late Inus Elder and Katie Oliver and the widow of Asbury C. Foster Sr. She was a member of Hill Baptist Chapel, and was the first elected Silver Haired Legislator from Northeast Georgia. She founded and organized both the Athens Adult High School and the Athens Credit Union. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hill Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. William J. Harris officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Public viewing will be at Jackson-McWhorter Funeral Home from noon to 8 p.m. today. Survivors include three daughters, Katie F. "Bill" Tyner, 51, of 7385 Commerce-Neese Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997. Born on Oct. 20, 1946, in Franklin County, Mr. Tyner was the son of Bobbie Fitts Tyner, Danielsville, and the late John C. Tyner. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve and the service manager for an automobile dealership. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pruitte Funeral Home with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and Peggy Little officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. In addition to his mother, survivors include a son, Todd Tyner, Hull; two sisters, Susan Sheppard, Grovestown, and Linda White, Sylvester; a brother, Jim Tyner, Danielsville; two grandchildren, T.J.
