Brooks Monroe William R. "Bill" Brooks, 80, died Monday, June 1, 1998. A native of Walton County, Mr. Brooks was a son of the late J. Albert and Ruth Needham Brooks. He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Brooks. An Army veteran, he was retired from Fambrough's Cleaners/Laundry, formerly owned Brooks' Grocery and was a member of Corinth Christian Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Corinth Christian Church with the Revs. Don Hardison and Lester Waters officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Patten Brooks; two sons, William Brooks, Macon, and Patt Brooks, Athens; two sisters, Louise B. Brown Hartwell Ford McRee "F.M." Brown, 96, of Woodlake Drive died Sunday, May 31, 1998. A native of Hart County, Mr. Brown was a son of the late Ben T. and Mary G. Brown. He was preceded in death by a son, Doyle Brown. He was a farmer, retired from Monroe Auto Equipment Co. and a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Black officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Joann B. Cox Royston Laura Blythe Cox, infant daughter of Darrel W. and Susannah Vass Cox, 1851 E. Main St., Royston-Franklin Springs, died Friday, May 29, 1998. Joseph Hawkins Lula Joseph Benjamin "Joe" Hawkins, 85, of Railroad Avenue died Monday, June 1, 1998. A native of Alabama, Mr. Hawkins was a son of the late Jerry and Ida Caudell Hawkins. He was Navy veteran of World War II and a member and deacon of Enon Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Enon Baptist Church with the Revs. Clyde Garrison and Paul Morris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A native of Newton County, Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of the late Paul W. and Laura McCart Townsend and was the widow of Willie James Johnson. She was a 50-year member of Almon Baptist Church, Covington, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Ruth Kennon New Orleans Ruth Walker Kennon died Wednesday, May 27, 1998. A native of Forest City, N.C., Mrs. Kennon was a widow of J. Farris Kennon. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile and the Freedom Foundation, Children's Hospital Guild and PATCH, president of New Orleans Home and Rehabilitation Center, an active member of St. George's Episcopal Church and former president of Diocesan Alter Guild. Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Monday at St. George's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Bennet Alford officiating.
