A native of Hart County, Mrs. Adams was a daughter of Opal Inez Shiflet Cheek of Bowersville and the late King David Cheek. She was a retired salesperson for Gallant-Belk and was the organist for Strickland Funeral Home. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, was the church pianist, a member of the senior adult ladies Sunday school class and Sunshine club and involved in various other church activities. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Revs. Ben Coleman, David Wilson and Chris Adams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with the Rev. Connie Mack Bowers officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Lowell H. Adams; a son, Ranny D. "Barney" Barnard, 78, also of Loganville, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998. A native of Caldwell County, Mo., Mr. Barnard was a son of the late John and Mamie Vernon Barnard and widower of Merle Westmoreland Barnard. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a retired electrical engineer and a member of IBEW Union and Cornith Christian Church in Loganville. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Lester Waters officiating. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Lynn Garinger, Garden Grove, Calif., and Vivian Adele Olsen, Galt, Calif.; a son, John William Barnard, Redondo Beach, Calif.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A native of Greene County, Mrs. Nesbitt was a daughter of the late Sarah Bell Sumbry and Will Henry James. She was married twice, first to the late Calvin Strong. She was a member of Randolph Baptist Church, where she served as vice president of the senior choir. Survivors include her husband, Harvey Nesbitt Jr.; two daughters, Carolyn Strong, Greensboro, and Mildred Nesbitt, Augusta; four sons, Rodrick Nesbitt and Ricky James, Woodville, Harvey S. A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Thomas was a daughter of the late Willie S. and Charlie Browning and was raised by the late Paree and Charlie Browning. She was the widow of Willie Irvin Thomas and was preceded in death by six children. She was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church and GCMBA Grand Lodge 8 of High Shoals, and an active member of Pride of Athens 585 Heroines of Jericho and Hulin Chapter 93 Order of Eastern Star of Athens. Williams, 90, of Hull Road died Thursday, April 2, 1998. A native of Gwinnett County, Mrs. Williams was a daughter of the late Thomas and Florence Jenkins and the widow of George Hubert Williams. She was preceded in death by two children, Blondine Kincaid and James "Buck" Williams.
