A native of Habersham County, Mr. Allen was a son of the late Rufus Lee Allen and Christine Adderholt. He was a general contractor and member of Beech Haven Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at Bridges Funeral Home with the Rev. Wes Owens officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Linda Allen; three sons, Dwayne Allen, Athens, Jerry Allen, Savannah, and Chet Allen, Ft. Walton, Fla.; three sisters, Lena Parham, Fairless Hill, Pa., Dolly Sansone, Chamblee, and Ellie Rohert, Athens; two brothers, Memphis Allen, Toccoa, and Rufus Bennard Allen, Cocoa, Fla.; and two grandchildren. Jessie Branyon Athens Jessie Anderson Branyon, 94, of 1660 Jennings Mill Road died Sunday, August 2, 1998. A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Branyon was a daughter of the late Matthew Lee and Mae Johnson Anderson and widow of Donald L. Branyon Sr. She was a lifelong resident of this area where she was a member of the University Womens Club, University Sewing Club, UDC, DAR, Grandmothers Club, and Silver Hair Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 42 years. She accompanied her husband in 2 overseas assignments, in Israel and Cambodia, where she taught English. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. today at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. Jon Appleton officiating. Burial will be in Tuckston Methodist Church Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Donald L. Branyon Jr., Athens, and James L. Branyon, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A native of Colquitt County, Mr. Cannon was a son of Vi and Oscar Cannon of Moultrie. He was employed by the Georgia State Dept. of Family and Children Services and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a sister, Kaye Cannon Joines, Lenexa, Kan.; and two nieces, Becky Joines and Sarah Joines, both of Lenexa, Kan. Leland F. Herring Canon Leland F. Herring, 89, of 2203 Grady School Road died Sunday, August 2, 1998. A native of Hart County, Mr. Herring was a son of the late Benjamin Henry and Jessie Parks Herring. He was a retired farmer and member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hamby Funeral Home, Lavonia, with the Revs. Johnny Ashworth and Lon Heighton officiating. Burial will be in the Franklin Memorial Gardens, North. Hattie Hill Lexington Hattie Clark Hill, 85, of Old Fairground Road died Saturday, August 1, 1998. Widow of Claude Hill, she was a member of New Annon Grove Baptist Church, where she served on the mother board until her health began to fail. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Anon Grove Baptist Church in Lexing ton with the Rev. Frank Dillard officiating. The body will be placed in the church an hour before the services. Helen Holland Winder Helen Holland, 77, died Saturday, August 1, 1998. Mrs. Holland was a daughter of the late Aaron and Mary Ann Page Ouzts, and widow of Horace Holland. The body will be placed in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Reese was a daughter of the late William and Locy Starks Hall and widow of Freeman D. Reese. She was a member of the Greater Hope Baptist Church.
