A native of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Bartley was a daughter of Lyda Matthews of Columbia and the late Robert H. Matthews. She graduated in 1964 from the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism and resided in Athens since 1972. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bernstein Funeral Home with the Rev. Chip Wilson officiating. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Numan V. Bartley; and a brother, Fred Matthews, Asheville, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Georgia Foundation, 824 S. Milledge Ave., Athens, Ga. 30605. Volina L. Burch Toccoa Volina L. Burch, 85, of 121 Emily St. died Sunday, May 31, 1998. A native of Stephens County, Mrs. Burch was a daughter of the late Lee and Gertrude Rainwater Pulliam and was the widow of Charles Burch. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Annie France Burch Hester. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Karl D. Moore officiating. Burial will be in Hurricane Grove Cemetery. Survivors include a brother, Leo Pulliam, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and two grandsons raised in the home, Donald Hester, Hartford, Conn., and Derrick Hester, Toccoa. The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home. Lucille S. Collins Toccoa Lucille Simmons Collins, 84, of 21 Mitchell St., died Wednesday, June 3, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Collins was a daughter of the late Russell O. and Maude Crenshaw Simmons and was the widow of Roy Lee Collins. She was preceded in death by a son, Lamar Collins. She was self employed as a seamstress and a member of Old Toccoa Baptist Church and Sarah Richards Sunday school class. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Revs. Roger Elrod and LeRoy Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Robert Collins, Monroe; three sisters, Irene Brady and Mattie Mullinix, both of Toccoa, and Dot Ledford, Marietta; two brothers, Albert Simmons and Donald Simmons, both of Toccoa; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Carrie Duncan Greensboro Carrie Hunnicutt Duncan, 92, of 1441 E. Broad St. died Tuesday, June 2, 1998. A native of Hancock County, Mrs. Duncan was a daughter of the late Ida Twilley and James Hunnicutt. She was a retired spinner from Mary Leila Cotton Mill and a member of West End Baptist Church. Gabriel, 58, died Tuesday, June 2, 1998. A native of Crawford, Mr. Gabriel was an Army veteran and a member of White Oak Baptist Church. He was employed for 28 years with CSX Railroad as an engineer. A native of Stephens County, Mrs. Hanie was a daughter of the late Lee and Ollie Coker Dover and was the widow of Lewis David Hanie Sr. She was retired after 30 years from Coats & Clark and was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanie Ivester, Phenix City, Ala.; a son, Lewis David Hanie Jr., Columbus; a sister, Hazel Baugas, Martinez; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was a retired knitter from Chipman-Union Manufacturing and a member of First United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Wisteria Cemetery with the Rev.
