Bailey, 76, of 902 Bailey Road, died Saturday, April 4, 1998. She was born in Hart County on Aug. 1, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Lee and Hattie Osley Stalnaker and was preceded in death by a son, Garnett Lee Bailey, and a brother, Obie Stalnaker. She was a homemaker and a member of Vanna United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and a former member of the 50 Plus club. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Vanna United Methodist Church with the Revs. Gail Seibert and Bobby Anthony officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Myra B. Bailey, Royston; a grandson, Chad Bailey, Royston; and a brother, J.O. Stalnaker, Bishop. Pallbearers will be Walton Osley, Melvin Osley, Leon Brown, Neal Jones and Gene Brewer Sr. Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Vanna United Methodist Church, P.O. James Britt Elberton James Evoid Britt, 69, of 1754 Washington Highway, died Friday, April 3, 1998. A native of Emanuel County, Mr. Britt was a son of the late Nathan Britt and Ledora Barfield Britt. He was a painter, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Britt was a member of Flatwood Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Berry Funeral Home, Elberton, with the Rev. Phillip Hart officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, Elberton. Survivors include his wife, Frances Smith Britt; two daughters, Theresa Lee Norris, Hartwell, and Pam Mattox, Elberton; a son, James Evoid Britt Jr., Elberton; two sisters, Sarah Craft, Gwinnett County, and Helen Orr, Buford; and a granddaughter. The family is at the residence. A.W. Collins Sr. Hartwell Arthur William Collins Sr., 72, of 76 Honeysuckle Road, died Friday, April 3, 1998. A native of Cobb County, Mr. Collins was a son of the late Walter V. and Betty Lee Sanders Collins. He was retired from Reynolds Metals and Stage Hand Local 41. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Nancy Hart Memorial Park with the Rev. Joe Black officiating. Survivors include his wife, Betty Knight Collins; four daughters, Patricia Ann Christianson, Las Vegas, Nev., Theresa Louise Cobb, Martin, Wanda Sue Bowman, Hartwell, and Juanita Eloise Harris, Atlanta; four sons, A.W. Collins Jr. and Bruce Wayne Collins, both of Atlanta, Barry Gene Collins, Hartwell, and Gary Collins, Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Betty Lois Nutt, Fla.; two brothers, W.V. Collins, Hartwell, and Bobby Lee Collins, Naples, Texas; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Mr. Meister was a son of the late Ferdinand Meister and Catherine Mockli Meister and widower of Ellen Grace Dailey Meister. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Annie Grace Meister Taylor. Mr. Meister was retired from Southern Railway with 47 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cornelia, where he served as past secretary of the Berean Sunday school class. Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at Whitfield Funeral Home, Cornelia, with Dr. T. Logan Smith officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Survivors include a son, Robert L. Box 96, Cornelia, Ga. 30531. Keith Oakes Lumpkin County Keith Oakes, 38, died Friday, April 3, 1998. A native of Barrow County, Mr. Oakes was a son of Runette Timms Oakes of Monroe and the late Rev. James Marion (Bill) Oakes. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Revs. Louis Timms and Junior Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Moriah Baptist Church cemetery. In addition to his mother, survivors include two daughters, Amanda Gail Oakes and Melissa Lee Ann Oakes, both of Murrayville; a sister, Susan Webb, Greensboro; and a brother, Doug Oakes, Monroe. Gene Parker Winder Gene Parker, 54, died Thursday, April 2, 1998. Mr. Parker was a son of the late Tom and Estelle Parker. He was an agent for American General and had worked for Liberty National. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Greg Moore officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Lee Parker; two sons, Steven Parker and Scott Parker, both of Winder; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Parker. Dorsey Pitts Toccoa Dorsey Edward Pitts, 64, of 9176A Pine Tree Circle, Ayersville Community, died Friday, April 3, 1998. A native of Stephens County, Mr. Pitts was a son of the late Lewis Kinard and Emma Gibby Pitts. Although he spent most of his life in California, he had resided in Toccoa for the past nine years. Mr. Pitts was a welder in general contracting, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, with the Rev. Roy Bainey officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Janey Kurtzman Pitts; a daughter, Teresa Pitts, Long Beach, Calif.; three sons, William D. Pitts, Edward Pitts and Daniel Pitts, all of Long Beach, Calif,; four step-children, Tina Jones, Kimberly Potts, Jason Jones and Terry Jones, all of Toccoa; a sister, Nell Ogden, Naples, Fla.; two brothers, Carl Pitts, Miami, and Dwain Pitts, Toccoa; and 11 grandchildren.
