James Walter Davis, 79, of 471 Burton Creek Road died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998. A native of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Mr. Davis was a son of the late Robert and Mary Montieth Davis and was the widower of Ida Wood Davis. He was preceded in death by a son, Walter Ray Davis. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from Trogdon Furniture Co. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, with the Rev. Ernest Ivester officiating. Burial will be in Tugalo Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Voyles, Hull; a son, James William Davis, Lavonia; two sisters, Effie Mae Gulley, Toccoa, and Sarah Elizabeth Edwards, Martin; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mike Davis, Todd Voyles, Dennis Muller, Kevin Brown, Jason Voyles and Tommy Voyles. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Davis, 7348 Georgia Highway 59, Lavonia, and will receive friends 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Bonnie England Cornelia Bonnie Stephens Burrell England, 71, of Circle Drive died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998. A native of White County, Mrs. England was a daughter of the late Hubert and Grace Beck Stephens. She was first married to the late Ray Burrell and was the widow of Bill England. She was a member of Baldwin Baptist Church, a former employee of Academy Garment Co. and retired from Short Manufacturing Co. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Whitfield Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Barnes, Leonard Gibbs and J. Frank Sailers officiating. Burial will be in Baldwin Cemetery with the Rev. Ernest Allen officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Cathey, Gainesville; a son, Rick Burrell Sr., Cornelia; three sisters, Emma Lewallen, Baldwin, Ethel Taylor, Greenville, S.C., and Violet Styles, Easley, S.C.; a brother, Hollis Stephens, Piedmont, S.C.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Erna Hawk Rutledge Erna Ruth Hawk, 82, of 1300 Walter Shepherd Road died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998. A native of Walton County, Mrs. Hawk was a daughter of the late Roxie Norris and Vivian Scarborough and was the widow of James Hughlon Hawk Sr. She was a seamstress. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rutledge Methodist Church with the Rev. Bonnie Peters officiating. Burial will be in Rutledge City Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Elease H. A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Oglesby was a daughter of the late Telford and Orene Adams Dickerson and was the widow of Ed Oglesby. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and retired from Wright Garment Co. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Sean Baughman and Milton Bagwell officiating. Burial will be in Faith Baptist Church Cemetery.
